I know that mostly everyone knows about the manhunt 2 banning for wii, and i for one can understand the BBFC for choosing this decision... however, i was thinking about this the other day and i came up with two possible solutions about this.
1. Either, it could be that the BBFC are so scared that noone cares or listens to their age ratings that they need to use the manhunt 2 banning as a scapegoat.
2. Or Rockstar are actually using this as a publicity boost - (i know what your thinking) but seriously, all they needed to do was put in some seriously violent videos and boom, its banned. like i said, EVERYONE KNOWS. Rockstar could then remove that scene, send it back to the BBFC and tell them its edited, the BBFC will pass it as an 18+ and everyone will buy it just for the fact that was so much controversy about it.

Tell me what you guys think and if you think wither of these reasons could be true.

I think number 2 is very likely. However, there are some whose parents buy them restricted games so it would make some parents not buy it. But I think there would be more who would find the game interesting because of the violence which overshadows the turned-off parents.

can you guys in the UK go to another European country and buy the game? or is it banned all over Europe?

well here is another thing about parents buying games... they take the kid in the store, kid picks out game, sales clerk points out to parent its a mature rated game, parent then proceeds to ask the child if they have played the game before, child says yes, stupid parent buys game. so i can kinda understand it not coming to the wii but an overall banning of the game is kinda stupid. they may as well put a ban on any game/movie that comes out with explicit violence that makes it a M/R rated.

thats completely true. any parent that doesnt know a thing about games will turn to their kid to ask what to do or in that case if he/she had played it.
SO what does that mean, does it mean that the next violent movie will be banned, one thing that i fear is that now with this banning, it may start something off where the BBFC take everything to the next level and ban anything and everything with a horror or gory theme. I think that everyone has to keep a close eye on what the BBFC is doing and how far they are taking things but that also BBFC has to still keep a close eye on publishers to see it doesnt get TOO out of hand.
Personaly i say that with virtual reality being discovered bit by bit everyday (http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/25/using-virtual-reality-to-induce-out-of-body-experience/) that using the wii remote is nothing, wait until the future...

I dont really see the point of buying this game its more then likely some boring storyine of some nut case which it is go around try to get revenge by killing inoscent people that to me is really really really low i have played some harsh games GTA etc but never will i go this far to play a game where you get a bag and choke a person to death with it........ if to you guys this game shows 3rd party support yea it does but i doubt it will sell close to a few hundred thousand its been banned in all but US regions and in AUS its currently M15+ but next week it will be banned because here games dont have an 18+ rating if a game is not suitable for 15+ it does not make the markets.

Preorders of manhunt are still being taken from play.com (uk) so, i guess they will get the game from another english speaking (pal) region.

I for 1 will probably not buy it until i see some sort of review.

This should be another reason why the wii should be region free, or this could coincide with the announcement of a wii game compatable freeloader .

A question i'd like to ask is Why is it ok in aus and not ok anywhere else?

Its illegal for A big shop to do that the game is banned from the shelves no matter what or where it comes from here in australia it will never get released that what they say now but when it comes closer they will say its un accaeptable.
I think only some sick people would have fun in this game

Damn that really sucks!! after all these postings on the game make me really want to play it, I love choking, beating and shooting innocent people for fun! Put the Action replay on my PS2 for infinite health and Ammo for GTA Vice City and I can play for 8 hours straight never attempting one mission its just the fun of backing groups of people over in a big van and pulling drive bys on your moped and giving the ego tripped police officer what he had comming! Damn i need to get my hands on a copy of this game.

don't they have porn and people can say fuck on TV in the UK? censorship
is so weird, things like that would be unheard of in the USA but a violent video game is unheard of there, I mean shouldn't we be able to decide whats right and wrong for ourselves not some organization deciding whats appropriate and not appropriate for us to hear or see?

I agree with you stuntman_ on that issue but unfortunatly thats not the way it works after all if we were to do such a thing allot of people would lose their jobs because they would no longer be allowed to sit around and piss everyone off by making decisions on game ratings lol :) but give it time in the 50's Marliyn Manson would have been thrown in jail but now hes allowed to sell multi platinum albums so I guess its just the industry numbing itself to controversial exposure or whatnot over the decades. Thank God I have a PS2 its coming!!!

I think in manhunt 2 your not mentally ill your just trying to escape to
see your family again, I know its a messed up idea, but have you seen hostel? people paying money to torture and kill people, I don't care what you say there is no game that is more violent than a movie, video game graphics are not advanced enough yet to show realism like a movie can, so I have to ask was hostel 1 or 2 banned in the UK?
