I've been searching for a while now for a way to play new games (anything higher than 1.5, preferably up to 3.52) on version 1.5 firmware. I would like to continue using my snes emulator and the plethora of games that come with it, while still being able to play newer games like Valkyrie Profile and (soon) Final Fantasy Tactics. I've read that it's possible, with some sort of 3.52 emulator, or with a custom firmware, I'm just clueless as to which direction to go.

Any help will be much appreciated. Entertainment on a submarine is sparse at best.

i suggest you go with 3.40 oe-a CFW or 3.52 m33 CFW because you get the benifits of official sony firmware and still play your SNES games and newer games

He's right. The most current custom Firmware is 3.52 M33-4. Some people say that 3.40 OE-A is more "stable", however, since update #4 of M33 fixed nearly 75-90% of the problems that were occuring in update #3, I should expect that by the next update, even the die-hard OE fans will have to admit that M33 is the best. As of now, 3.52 M33-4 has sooo many more features available, plus Sony's direct isocache.bin file. This allows you to play ISO/CSO game files without the need for a physical UMD in the drive. Most custom XMB designs now are specific to M33. M33 is the best choice to go, especially since you want to play the upcoming FF:Tactics. Now sure what the minimum Firmware is, but since it won't even be released until next month, you can expect the minimum to be higher than 3.40.

There is no excuse NOT to mod! Don't follow the rules, make them!

I'm not upgrading to M33 until they fix the problems for some individual PSPs, everyone says how great it is, and i can't even use homebrew with it, settings in recovery are fine, and tried 3.52 M33-4, still no luck.

PSP, all the way from 1.00 to 5.50 GEN D2 - DS Lite w/ M3DS Real (M3 Sakura v1.34)
PS3 3.01 - iPod Touch 2G 16GB Jailbroken - Xbox 360 60GB - PC, Q6600, 3GB DDR2, GTX260 (216) 896MB

You're funny! I created a thread dedicated to *****ing and complaining about M33 and how OE was sooo much better. Then they released update #4. The update fixed 7 out of 8 complaints I had against M33. I was in shock, needless to say. So you can't tell me that M33 doesn't work for you. Oh, and all PSP's that are created within the same regeon (i.e. USA PSP1001, Cananda PSP1000) are all exactly the same. If you're within the USA, my PSP is the same as yours. Do you really think that Sony massproduces millions of PSP systems in a week, having each system individually customized/changed/modified in ANY way, shape, or form. Maybe you think Sony perposefully shipped a faulty PSP to the store you bought it from, knowing that you would be the one to buy it, try M33 and fail, just so they could laugh at you because you're soo special that Sony wants to target you. Come one dude! Get with the M33 program! Move on, D_A is dead and M33 is alive and killing!

EDIT:
... metaphorically speaking, of course.

HAHA, ok, yes, i can tell you M33 doesn't work for me, i would send you my PSP to prove it, but you know, it's really not worth it.

I didn't exactly imply that every PSP is different, however, due to firmware updates and modifications, every persons PSP will be slightly different, and i suppose there's something in my flash0 that's wrong or something, i don't really give a ****, just that reinstalling everything does nothing, and that 3.40 OE-A is fine, 3.52 M33-4 is not.

Well, anyway, seems like your somehow interested lol: In UK with a Jap PSP1000.

"Get with the M33 program!" Not until i can get homebrew to work.
