Hello, I took apart my PS2 to scotch tape a sensor in the PS2 for the swap disc trick. That part was easy though. I didn't touch anything else except for the me taping down that sensor *that would be pushed down by closing the CD Tray*.

When I put the top back on, at first, it felt like something came loose...so I took the tray back off and saw a little circuit board had came off it's little holster *for the power button*...I stuck it back on it's holster, put the top back on, put all the screw back in, and the button still gets power...red light...thats a good thing.

However, when I go to push the button...it doesn't change to green nor will the PS2 boot up. I've tried taking the top back off, trying to see if it was an alignment problem and put the top back on...still nothing. Usually when you push down the power button, you'll feel it go in slightly *like it goes into something and pops back out*...now it doesn't do that anymore. It just pushes up against that circuit board...like something on the button is missing...but I can't figure out what. I didn't see a rubber piece or anything else that came with the button when I took it apart...so I'm not sure what's going on or how to fix it...any body got a clue on what may happened?

Sorry for the double post...couldn't find how you could edit your own posts...but I found the problem. The white button on the reset PCB got broke off. I'll have to go buy a new PCB or I can call Sony and get my PStwo traded in for a new refurbished one for $50....the Sony one is easier lol. But prolly $20 or $30 more expensive...

Your best bet is Ebay, 'coz I got mine for a total of $20. It's easy to install, and safer than trying to replace that little button.

The same thing happened to me that happened to you when I did the tape and tissue method.

good to go!!

That's where I bought it and what it looks like incase any of you dunno what I'm talkin about. That white button there is what allows your PS2 to reset/boot up.
Now all I need to do is find a place that will put a modchip on my PS2 and I'm good to go lol *cause I dunno how to solder...nor do I wanna open up my PS2 again lol*
