PSP Analog Part question

I think this may be the issue to my problem. The analog stick appears to be stuck in one direction. I lost this part in the pic below when I was re-assembling my psp. What problem is caused when you lose this?

Yes, this does look like it's causing your problem, it seems that picks up the response from the analogue stick.
