internet connection stopped working after wiikey install

hello everyone, this is my first post and i'm hoping i'll find an answer. i have already searched the forum and couldn't find what i needed so i am resorting to post my problem:

1. internet connection worked fine before
2. i installed the wiikey and it has successfully be tested to play burned games
3. but now my wii can find my internet server but has problems connecting (i get an error message when i "test" the connection)

i have tried:
-resetting the system
-deleting and setting up the connection again

now i am fresh out of ideas and am seeking some help! :)

This happens when you take out the battery of the Wii and your WiiConnect24 is not turned off.

Go HERE and follow this guide to correct the issue.
