I'm having a problem while trying to access/stream my MP3 files from my PC>PS3 using WMP11.

Im using an original version of Windows Vista (32-bit) and follow the various instrucions I've found on the net when it comes to sharing/streaming media files using WMP11.

All my media files are located on an external HD, and I've added all these files to my Media Library.

When I search for media servers on my PS3, I'm able to see my PC, but when I access the Music folder, the PS3 seems to be "searching for tracks" for a while, and afterwards I get the message "no tracks where found". However, I AM able to see certain playlist originated on the external HD, and I'm able to play the tracks under these playlists.

If I remove my HD from the media Library, and reconnect to the media server, I am able to see the (sample) tracks originated in the shared folder on my main HD on the PC.

Is the absence of the tracks when adding the external HD caused my some sort of loading time-out, and if so, is there a workaround for this?

Is it advisable to use an external HD as mediastorage at all? (when it comes to streaming>PS3) or do have all my media files have to be originated on my PCs HD?
