I'm currently deployed to Iraq and dont have any access to games. Is it possible to downgrade from 2.80 to 2.71 without a UMD game? I'm trying to play some games my brother sent me, new ones, and I couldnt install devhook with 2.80.

There is a downgrader for 2.80-1.50. Once you're on 1.50, I reccomend upgrading to 3.40 OE-A. You do not need DevHook on 3.40 OE-A. And you can play all the games that require FW 3.40 or lower.

Does this downgrader work with a TA-082? I googled it and it said to not attempt if I had that kind.

Do you have a TA-82 or higher mother board?

You can find out by opening up the UMD bay and look at the top right hand corner and see if there are text there. Below is an image of what to look for...

If there is text there then its a TA-82 or higher. If there is no text then it isn't.

HERE is a link to multiple guides for downgrading including how to downgrade a 2.80 PSP with a TA-82 or higher motherboard or without. The files you need is also linked in the guide. Just make sure you check to see if you have a TA-82 or higher or not and choose the correct guide to follow.

I also want to thank you for serving in Iraq. Plus I apologize for these 2 idiots feuding over what CFW is best. I personally use 2.52 M33-4 and have had no issues.

No need for a guide and you didn't even put a guide so what's your point? And why did you need to call us idiots? Even if you're an AD Addict, it doesn't mean you have an advantage on everyone.

A guide would be helpful so he knows what steps to take to get the job done.

Read my post again I did give a link to a guide.

Im sorry for calling you an idiot but here this guy is in IRAQ serving and instead of giving him a link to a guide that actually will help him you 2 are squabbling over what CFW is best.

Now you have me acting like an idiot arguing with you over this. So now I am done with you.

The only accurate guide for 3.40 OE-A is the ReadMe file included in the download.

Well the first thing he needs to do is downgrade to 1.50. The 3.40 OE-A will not help in the downgrade.

@Slopple

I would recommend going to 3.52 M33-4 CFW. It works fine for me and allot of others as well. Plus you will not be limited to games that are 3.40 or below like you would with the 3.40 OE-A CFW.

I managed to download all the files and install them correctly. I put the ISO in root/ISO and it showed on my psp with the little image and sound. When I run it, however, it gives me The Game could not be started (80020321). I googled it and it says that it could mean the loader isnt compatible with the iso, but I have 3.52 and everything seemed to work correctly.

Did you install the 3.52 M33 upgrade or 3.40 OE-A upgrade?

I will assume you installed the 3.52 M33 update since you said your at 3.52.

In any case you will need to have a UMD in the UMD bay to play an ISO game from the MS. This is the default setting. If you do not have a UMD to place in the PSP then follow the steps below to change the option to "NO UMD" Which will let you play the ISO without a UMD in the bay.

If you have 3.52 M33 installed do the below to enable the "NO UMD" option so you can play the ISO games with no UMD in the bay.

1) Turn off the PSP.

2) hold the R shoulder button down. Turn on the PSP while holding down the R shoulder button. It should boot into recovery mode. If you don't see anything on the screen push the brightness button till you see the recovery menu.

3) once your at the recovery menu go to configuration.

4) then go to UMD Options.

4) when at the UMD option, cycle through the selections till you see "Sony NP9660" and select it. Then go to the previous screen and exit out of recovery mode.

When you boot to the XMB go to your Game menu and play the game it should start for you without the error message.
