Just recently upgraded from 2.81 to 3.03, then succesfully downgraded to 1.5. I created an ISO folder, loaded 2 ISO's (bleach4, bubble bobble), but cant see the games. im not too sure on how to load devhook, tried umd emulator and mphloader...but didnt work. PLUS, im not even sure if im loading the programs correctly, they all freeze. any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Congratulations on your successful downgrade....Instead of using an outdated program like devhook, or MPH loader-why not upgrade to a custom firmware such as the one found HERE ? It will make your life that much easier...After you sucessfully upgrade-run the format memory stick option from your psp menu to clear out the installer files, and it will also create the folder directory for you...Then just drop the game into the ISO folder on your memory stick-insert a UMD game, and select your game from the psp menu under GAME....

No, you still needed to downgrade in order to "unlock" the capability of playing iso's...You completed the first step....Its just that devhook, and MPH loader are really old programs that nobody uses anymore-The custom firmware such as the one I linked to in my last post has the capability built-in...It looks just like sony's official firmware, and works just like it, but its been modified so you no longer have the need for loaders like UMD eumlator or devhook....

He's right. Don't get me wrong. I am a big fan of Devhook and I would probably still use it if updates were made for it. But I waited for months and months and no update came. So I downgraded to 1.5, then upgraded to custom firmware 3.52 M33. It makes things a lot easier. When I had Devhook, I could never load a single ISO, so what I did was convert it to CSO and it worked perfectly. Well, I noticed a problem with Metal Slug Anthology though. I was able to play it but it was kinda slow. And the reason for that is because the PSP is still running your original firmware and emulating another firmware and playing the game at the same time. So you should upgrade to custom firmware because you can play ISOs (people say it can but I've never tried), CSOs (this I can confirm works) UMDs, PS1 games and run homebrew.

My PSP Firmware History: 2.60 had to return the PSP because it had a dead pixel > new PSP had firmware 2.71 > 1.5 > 3.52 M33 > 3.52 M33-4 > 3.71 M33 > 3.71 M33 with 1.50 kernel

for the most part, yes...its best to keep a UMD game in the drive. There is also a "recovery mode" where you can change settings, and it works as a safety net should things go wrong with your PSP-it allows you to recover and reflash your firmware....You access the recovery console (after you upgrade, of course) by first turning off your psp completely(hold power switch up for about 5 seconds)-then while turning it back on, hold down the R trigger button, and keep it held down until your psp boots to a blue (or black) screen with a menu...There aren't too many things you would need to change in the recovery console-aside from maybe enabling or disabling "use no UMD" from the "configuration" option in that menu...if you enable "use no UMD" that means you dont need a UMD in the drive-but some games are funny about that setting, so thats why its actually best to keep a game in the drive and the setting disabled...
