Ok when you reauther a dvd movie in dvd shrink and get rid of every thing except the main movie itself how do you get to create a new chapter/scene guide menu is this possible.

Also say if all the menus are deleted except the main movie again and you copy those files to dvd does your dvd atomaticly now how to play the movie without the need for menus.

If you have only the main movie on your DVD, yor player will automatically begin playing the film when you load the disc.

If you want menues (including chapter selection menues) you have two options:

1) Don't reauthor - you can compress the extra features to still pictures and remove unneeded audio tracks and subtitles. This method will often alow you to keep the menues and allow for minimal compression of the main movie.

2) After you have reathored, import the VOBs to TMPGEnc DVD Author and create your own menues and set you own chapter points. The menue won't be as professional looking as the original, and the process takes longer, but it will work.

Personally, I use method one if it will allow me to keep the main movie uncompressed, but in 9 out of 10 cases I just do a Movie-only backup...menues just aren't that important to me.

I use many programs to create my backups (so that I can keep the menus, scene selection etc but get rid of the special features so as not to lose too much quality on the main movie).
The programs I use are:
DVD Decrypter
Ifoedit
DVD shrink
Nero 6

There are many tutorials on how to use them (its a long and complicated process, but worht it i think!) www.doom9.org is a good place to start!
