it used to, but I don't know why it doesn't now... it goes to load but just sits at a black screen that says "Playstation" in white and underneath that, it was "SCEA tm" thats it, you hear the disc spin some then stops, no buttons do anything and swapping in a game does nothing.

I have read that you need to hit DOWN and then X or something but that doesnt work either, any ideas wtf is up? thanks.

Thsi problem usually occurs when you are trying to play a game from Region different than your console. the machine detects it as a PlayStation game but does not allow you to play it.
You said it used to work. are you using a diferent console now or
different action-replay?
