HP DVD DL problems?? New laser??

Has anyone had any problems with HP DVD DL's?! I ran out of verbatims and started using HP... recently Bioshock which is on an HP disk keeps telling me "disk is unreadable, clean with soft cloth etc. etc." the disk is fine... something else is amiss.. I was wondering if its because I've been using HP DVD's they have worn out the laser? I cleaned the laser with a q-tip and some cleaner... still not working... any ideas?
