ive brought a jap wii and was told it was region free, so i take it on that, that it has a mod. but how can i really know cause im not sure?

a modded wii doesnt mean its region free.
we still gotta play our own regions. Unless there patched.

well i want to play Us ntsc games on my japenese wii i hav bout 10 games that are in english does this mean my jap wii is taking US games?

In order for you're wii to be region free it has to be modded, although some games still don't work. Check out the compatibility list below

Best way to know if it's modded or not is to try a burned game or a NTSC-U game, although be careful when running games from other regions, if you're wii's firmware isn't up to date and the game you're playing has a firmware update on it you could brick you're wii.

So if the english games you're playing are indeed NTSC-U then you have a modded wii.

I think Gamecube games are going to be region free with the new update Wiikey.

It's already partially region free with GC games, it's just hit or miss which ones work. But yeah the wiikey guys are saying that it'll boot all GC games region free once the update comes out.

If you are playing out of region games on an NTSC-J wii, then yes, it has been modded.
