miles- you're right. I meant to say I wanted to get the RF version to change the .dll to get the ripper back, and the added bonus of not getting unwanted splash screens...if I understand the other thread. My fingers were getting ahead of my brain, cuz 321 is pissing me off. I can't see why I can't get ANY version of DVD XCopy Gold when I have a valid license. Cost me $120!

Hi everybody. I talked with 321 studios today about the so called issue of a new license and Platinu RF. They say they are switching servers from the US to Canada. Also the only time they will issue a new license for RF, and they say its rare, is when a purchased version of platinum can't be activated by the license givin in the package. Your current license and password will still work. Also if you already have any version of platinum on your computer and it is activated, Platinum RF will work. You can have ripper version and RF on the same computer. And you don't need to use an activation on RF.

I have downloaded the Backup Screen Remover that PsiDoc has provided for 321 DVD X Copy Express. He says that the the remover works for versions 3.0.1 to 3.2.1.
I purchased the X-Copy Gold edition just after the court decision, and I can't find anywhere the version number of the Express software.
I'm a newbie -- can anyone help?
Also, there are several questions that I have about X Copy and X Copy Express -- is there a good forum or newsgroup for these?

The version numbers as different for Xcopy gold than the are for Xpress. I only own Xpress. On a positive side 321GONE should work for you, you just may need to select the directory where the backup is on your hard drive (After selecting it will remember the backup directory, unless you change it). Give it a whirl, see how it goes.

I am also a newbie, I had ver 3.2.1 and upgraded to Platinum ver 4.0.3.8. Will it work for this version? After I copy my DVD and select 321GONE it says it can't find the back up folder and asks to manually locate. Any help would be appreciated.

hmarx20,
it sounds like you have the new RF version. If so..find the link earlier in this thread for the ripper file and ad it to your RF version....takes out the dvd warning and works great.

I figured out what I did wrong. I did not put the new DVD in before trying to use the 321GONE. I was executing the program right after the copy mode was done. It worked perfectly. Thanks.

hmarx20,
Your running the last ripper version of Platinum v4.0.3.8. 321gone works with express ... so if it will work you'll have to backup in simple mode.
Quote: it says it can't find the back up folder and asks to manually locate
When you open Platinum ... choose settings, here you'll see the temp files path. This is where the backup file will be. Default setting is kind of hard to find, you have to enable seeing all files. To make it ease, change the path to your local disk.

PsiDOC,
Platinum 321 does not work.
Share the knowledge of how to remove, other people can create new one for platinum.
Thanks,

i100,
Platinum comes with Xpress(simple mode)... Have you tried 321gone with Xpress to see if it works? Also the poblem of the "DVD Backup" screen has been resolved.... v4.0.4.15RF then just get 321rip.

Platinum & Xpress users. There is no need to use 321GONE anymore.
Upgrade your software to the RF version, and then re-enable the CSS ripper by patching it with 321RIP!
In the RF versions the DVDBackup screen has been removed, as has the "Is this a rented DVD" nag screen.

Contact 321 studios with you your Customer ID and/or Password and they will give you a new licence for the ripper free version, they have done this (so they say)
so ppl dont uninstall the ripper version and replace it with the RF version..

I contacted 321 and they said:
Due to the legal actions taken against us, we are no longer providing RF
downloads to ripper customers. Please check with www.dvdxcopy.com for
future support because that site is not affiliated with us and they are
taking over the X Copy line.
Any help would be appreciated in getting the RF version.

i100,
No need to un-install v3.2.1. Also v4.0.4.15RF will work from you 3.2.1 activation. Try to install v3.2.1 make sure its activated, then install v4.0.4.15RF
