I have Dark Alex's 3.40 OE A firmware, and whenever I try to start MHF2 I just get a black screen. Use No_UMD is disabled and I have a UMD in my PSP. When I click plugins there is nothing there so I don't think it's that either.

Can somebody please help me?

I don't see why since the game's required firmware is 3.40. I guess if nothing else works I will try doing that though.

fearevil is correct. MHF2 requires running a higher firmware then 3.40. So 3.40 OE-A will not run the game.

Update to 3.52 M33-4 to play the game.

Alright then, I will go do that now and see what happens. It's just that people answered that the game was 3.40 and some people said it ran at 3.40 OE A on their PSPs... oh well. No real harm in updating it either.

There have been multiple other thread started with this same issue and as far as I know they updated to 3.52 M33 to get it to work.

I could be wrong about the firmware requirement but there have been allot of users having issues running it on 3.40 OE-A. Haven't seen a 3.40 OE-A user yet say it will run.

It could be a corrupt ISO. I have the game and have had no issues with it.

I haven't been able to find one that isn't like 38 files though.

Can somebody give me a link to a torrent please that's under 650 MB and not a whole bunch of files (cause I can't do anything with those).

Sorry for the trouble...

Oh, and does anybody have any other ideas why it won't work?

Use WinRAR to extract the torrents that come in 38 file pieces.

http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm

Just choose the first file in the list and extract. The other parts will extract automatically making the ISO.

Alright, well I got it to work, but here's the thing. Yes, another problem. Works fine, however when I go on my first quest about 8-10 seconds into loading the game just freezes. Then it shuts off. What's going on?

Gah, I feel like God hates me right now.

Try going into recovery mode and change the CPU speed for UMD/ISO to 333MHz

Thats if you already don't have it set.

I duno why your having issues with the game. Both of my sons have it on their's and it works flawlessly.

There have been some that have had issue but it was the NO UMD mode that was causing the issue. Changing it to Sony NP9660 NO UMD fixed it.

Are you getting these PSP rips from public trackers? Could be just bad rips that your downloading.

I am downloading 2 more (full) versions, and I will try those out. Yes, the two i tried before were rips, I really hope that was the problem and nothing else.

I had the exact problems you had until now. However, if you noticed that highlighting the game launcher after getting 3.52 m33-4, there was no animation. What i did was changed the name of the iso so that there were just letters in it. (try mhf2.iso) Or .cso if you compressed it.

Try right clicking on the ISO file and make sure Read Only and Hidden box are unchecked and the Archive box is checked.

Also try going into recovery mode then to ADVANCED then to ADVANCED CONFIGURATION and make sure those options are all disabled.
