Is that just now coming out in the UK creaky? I did that one a while back, and I think I was still using R4M at the time.

yeah i believe this movie's been out ages ago elsewhere but only just out here. I've never used RI4M and can't be doing with setting that up so i'll just wait for Fengtao et al to work their usual magic :)
..just thought i'd pre-empt a thread explosion (by starting my own thread i mean, seeing how well the Blades of Glory thread is going)

@creaky,
If DVD Decrypter can open the Disc and read the files without getting an error and shutting down, then try my guide out. Even though it is old, I still use an almost identical process on newer releases and it works like a charm. There's a sticky on the DVD-R for advanced users and there is a link to a different guide in that post.
Just keep in mind that the newer corruptions have corruption before and after the movie.
Also, if you are having problems, you can upload the IFO files to something like rapidshare or megaupload and I can take a look at it for you.

Ok, good to hear!! Fengtao has gotten a lot faster than before when I first wrote those guides.
Yeah, the guide is a little tricky to get if you just use it on occasion, but it's good for people that need to have the backup ASAP. It's not 100% full proof anymore cause it seems like Sony Specifically targeted those guides for newer releases...

Hi all
Yes, successfully backed up my copy of "Curse of the Golden Flower" - Pal version.
I only backed up the main movie and used DVDfab HD Decrypter (Trial version).
Here's how i did it.
Load the disk and select main movie rather than whole disk.
The disc should load with around 90 files.
You must now uncheck all of the movie files (Files with 2 Chinese audios and a Time length of 1hour 40 odd minutes).
Leave one of the film files (i selected number 90) checked and i removed the Dolby audio 5.1 from my selected file.
I left all extras and menus out and just ripped the main movie.
All worked fine.
The dvd disc just contains lots of dummy files that need to be unchecked/de-selected and all should work well.
The trial version DVDFab decrypters could read the discs too

DVD Decrypter shows this movie's files to total 426GB (but obviously DVD Decrypter can't do the movie either).
However the good news is that the DVDFab guys are on it -

toniboni,
Region 1 had no problems as Locoeng did that version some time back.
Region 2-Pal version is where the problem is. AnyDVD still has not got that version working yet but James is on it.

Thanks so much for the replies, esp. hm1 for the detailed rundown.
On principle, I wouldn't buy a DVD I couldn't back up (for the same reason I don't buy expensive glassware), but I've now ordered a copy online. Less than a tenner now.
