Hello folks. Got a question for you. The title pretty much says it all, but I thought I'd post here and get your opinions.
I have the ATI Radeon X700 Pro graphics card. It has one VGA port on it and one DVI-I port on it. It came with an adapter to convert the DVI-I port to a VGA port.
Anyway, I want to connect it to an HDTV and it seems nearly impossible to find DVI-I to HDMI cable so my question is if one can use a DVI-D to HDMI cable and still get it to work?
Secondly, I would like to know if there is any significant quality difference between using an HDMI cable and a VGA cable. If not, I'll just go with the VGA cable.

Just ot make sure that I understand what you're asking... you want a cable that's DVI-D on one end for your PC and the other end to be HDMI for your TV? If so, then it sould work just fine. I have a DVI-D cable with a HDMI to DVI-D adapter and it works just fine.
As for the HDMI-VGA question... VGA is analog and HDMI is digital. I would venture to say that there will be some quality loss. Although I have seen VGA-D running around and I assume that means VGA-Digital. But I am not THAT knowledgable... LOL.

Don't quote me, but I believe the only difference between DVI and HDMI is that HDMI incorporated audio in the same cable. But like I said, I'm not 100%. If that's the case then you should be OK.
