just bought a new comp and i heard u can make dvds out of avi files to play on any dvd player the help would be greatly appreciated

DvD U-lead Factory does that very well

you can get a trial version just search for

U-lead DvD Movie Factory in gogle

That will help you

Also Toshiba players will NOT accept dvd-r or +r's just so you know

Well I believe the best way is to use TMPEGEnc to convert your AVI to a DVD format mpg file and then to use TMPEGEnc DVD Author to create the DVD and burn it as well.

I have a Toshiba SD 3800... it plays all my DVD-R and also plays DL SVCD movies, converted to DVD format and burn on a DVD-R.
