yeah don't keep your hopes up, its most likely that it was fake. I wish it was true, but unfortunately a vast number of gays on the net release fakes.

I hope no one was actually waiting for an "iso loader"

Actually I forgot about it until I saw this topic. It's hard to keep track of every idiot posting a date for their isoloader release.

Yeah, you can't really put a date on the iso loader. It will be out when it is released and there will most likely be no set release date.

The ISO loasr would be sweet... But I don't get something...

If a ISO loader comes out, how would we store ISOs on a FAT32 formatted disk (4 GB max file size) and it wouldn't be practical as the disk size would only allocate 2-3 games.

What we need is a way of backing up BluRay disks.

Well the problem lies with the hardware they are using, which are dev units.A dev unit can infact be used to produce an iso loader, but won't do the community any good. They are built completely different and are not structured like a regular PS3.Another thing I wanted to bring up was that PS3news tried to use a dvd instead of blu-ray media in order to boot a disc.It won't work though, because it doesn't put the drive in a blu-ray read state.Blu-Ray and dvd are complete different and the reason they are different is the pots stored on the discs.Blu-Ray has different boot key information than a regular dvd as well.Until someone with the right knowledge and hardware steps up and takes the challenge it will never get done. Also try not to think of an isoloader as being harddrive specific as well,Blu-Ray media can be used on the system and would allow NTFS write support if used in conjunction with a PC.Backing up the images is possible, but as mentioned being able to boot them is impossible at the moment and the drive has to be able to read them in the correct state.I would also like to say why doesn't someone build an app that dumps the internal bios of the system so devs could study how the system works.I'm sure someone has looked into it,but with the right resources it can be done by looking at the PS2 bios dumper code by Pukko.

is it possible that an extremely talented DEV can code a Firmware for the BD-rom drive in the PS3 similar to X360 so it can read DVD ps2 back ups and in the future read BD-rom backups...just a thought

Actually being able to code a firmware I doubt it,because you have to be able to extract them first. At the moment there is no true firmware extracting program for the PS3.You would have to use the system to actually extract the archive of a firmware, because the archive uses an advanced technique for compression.Although there is a downside to this you can use a modchip and auto patch the firmware, but this a work in progress as well and probably won't be discovered for a very long time. The Infectus modchip uses the auto patching technique and can run backed up PS2 games on dvd,but since they have no knowledge on the actual firmware for PS3 they can't start development for auto patching for PS3 games. They can dump the extracted firmwares using the infectus modchip, but they can only offer a downgrading option.Finding the location in the firmware and patching it is the answer, and that is what is going to take a very long time.So the answer is XBox 360 was discovered by messing with the drive firmware, but the PS3 doesn't use a drive technique. It uses the internal firmware nand where the hypervisor and everything else is stored. The drive for the PS3 is actually driven by this internal nand storage chip.If you look through one of the firmware updates with a hex editor you can tell, because the Blu-Ray driver is inside of it.

L-Burna: Wouldn't it be possible to stream an uncompressed firmware during an auto-update and dump it into something that is readable?

I don't think that it will be a stand alone iso loader. I think the first step is going to be a hacked firmware, but even that is far fetched. The psp custom firmwares are built on 1.5 firmware which anyone in the psp scene knows will run homebrew without any need for modification. With the ps3 there was no such firmware so it will be a little hard to build a firmware on top of something that never existed. The world has great hackers that only live to do this kind of thing, and I'm sure they're working on it as I type this. Maybe it will be exploited maybe not, but until then I'm still happy with my unmodded ps3. There are ways to run ps2 homebrew(.elf files) with swap magic and you don't have to install the switch. This has only been tested on a pal ps3 at 1.8 firmware.

Running unsigned code on the PS3 is pretty hard to do,and to fake an update to have it dump in another location would be the second step.I'm not going to say it isn't possible, but would need a hack in order to accomplish it which is what we all need to even start.A hacked firmware I don't think will be possible unless you can actually extract it first.I think using a modchip and auto patching the firmware would probably happen before a firmware hack.I'm not going to call it an isoloader, but I would rather call it auto patching firmware. An isoloader could evolve from this, but would require media instead of using the harddrive. The problem with the harddrive is the format FAT32,which prevents transferring anything over the 4GB limit. The PS2 .elf files still work like a charm, and this might be the answer to running a bootstrap code something similar to the independence exploit. The best thing to do is wait and see what happens, but I'm completely convinced a modchip such as infectus can get the job done. They have already proven to everyone that they can read and write to the internal nand of the PS3,which actually is a big step when you think about it.

Yeah, a media solution will more than likely be the first step. However, it will be an EXPENSIVE solution. There also aren't any affordable solutions in the way of Blu Ray recorders or media.

Yeah I agree with that Blu-Ray media is expensive and the burners aren't cheap also.I can find Blu-Ray media for $14,but that is still expensive when you think about it not to mention the most expensive investment which is the Blu-Ray burner itself. It cost as much as the PS3 when you think about it.

At that price it is definitely not an investment. The cons outweigh the benefits.

We will all just to have to wait for some firmware hack..

that's all bad news , i guess know one will know how to crack this shit

i guess sony did a great job by defending the console against piracy

im kinda shocked hackers havent cracked the ps3 yet but when you think about it the ps2 wasnt that easy to crack either to this day having to use an annoying swap method to play backups for a ps2 kinda shows that sony is no joke and a slap in the face for hackers that havent cracked the ps3 yet.

WOW I am actually waiting for a modchip, a loader isnt realistic and as mentioned above FAT32 is a pain in my a-hole. Its gonna be a while but the person who does crack it will go down in history hardcore! I'm a lil disapointed, i expected it to be cracked wide open like the psp. OH WELL YOU WIN SOME YOU LOSE SOME!

Lower your flags and march straight back to England, stopping at every home to beg forgiveness for a hundred years of theft, rape, and murder. Do this and your men shall live. Do it not, and every one of you will die today.

Aye, fight and you may die, run, and you'll live... at least a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willin' to trade ALL the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take... OUR FREEDOM!

You are in the PS3 section.

You are posting in a thread about a fake iso loader for a PS3.

Nobody is going to MAKE you a downgrader...you gotta find one on your own.
