hi

i went from using xp media center edition to vista and realized that xbox backup creator was just creating the .iso file, not the .dvd file that it makes in xp. hence i was burning unreadable coasters.

is there a way i can read those image files i created with vista to make the .dvd files to make a backup or do i have to start from scratch?

thanks!

So you solved your problem with Vista and did not burn your backup with it,and instead "ported" them over to Xp.Doesnt make much sense to me

i had the isos on my external hard drive so i tried burning with image burn in both xm and vista. with no luck. when i click on the .dvd file, image burn opens, which is good, but the end result was still an unreadable disc

A .dvd file is just this:

LayerBreak=1913760
xxxxxxx.iso

Open a new text document copy and paste above ,replace the x's with the exact name of the iso save it as a .dvd file in the folder of your iso, burn with your program.

Really though you don't even need a .dvd file, open up imgburn
1: click TOOLS on the top 2: choose SETTINGS 3:click the WRITE tab and you will see towards the top right of that box "Layer Break (For Double Layer Media)" 4: choose user specified and enter in the little text box 1913760
and thats it. Now any double layer dvd's you burn will have that layerbreak wich is what your xbox games need and what the .dvd file contains, (which you dont need anymore).

I see re-reading your post's you got the .dvd file worked out, maybe that post will help somone else.

What media are you using to burn?, what speed are you setting the write to ?,do you have a hitachi or a samsung? and what firmware?
