imgburn problems

i just started using imgburn, i've tried to read some help articles but no good info on wat i need. i converted a ifo video_ts file to iso to burn it on a dvd+r disc but even though it says "100% complete", at the bottom of the screen it still says "device not ready medium not present"

I would check with Gateway for a firmware update for this drive. According to TDB the drive hasn't seen support since 2005... http://tdb.rpc1.org/#GSA4082N
Do the same for your HP (OEM BenQ drive).
Are you trying to read the original disc with Imgburn?

When the burn is complete the tray will open and close before the verification begins...don't remove the disc when the tray opens the first time, allow Imgburn to verify the data on the disc. It appears that you are removing the disc in between this phase of the process...the burn looks fine.

That's not a problem. It's a good thing. Being booktyped to DVD Rom makes the disc more compatible with players. Store bought movies are booktyped to DVD Rom. That's why they play in almost everything.

It takes more than one minute and a few seconds, to burn a movie...... if I'm reading that right?
Again, if computer is set to Fat32, change to NTFS and try again.

THANKS FOR BOTH OF YOUR SUGGESTIONS BUT AS FAR AS THE CHANGING THE FAT32 TO NTSF WHERE WOULD I GO TO DO THAT? I'M NOT AS GOOD WITH COMPUTERS AS I WOULD LIKE TO BE YET

O YEAH WHEN I BURN THEM THEY DONT WORK IN DVD PLAYERS BUT IN THE MY COMPUTER YOU CAN PULL IT UP THE FILES ARE SAVIN ON THEIR ITS JUST NOT SHOWIN UP ON THE DVD PLAYERS

Convert Fat32 to NTFS:

The reason they do not read in the standalone players is because the players are having a problem reading the info on it. It is a compatibality problem. You can try Verbatim DVD's but w/ a burner that old it probably will not recog the MID Code of the newer blank media. You might consider buying a new burner as they are not that expensive

If the MDS file is selected to burn from wouldn't that take care of the FAT32 issue? I do agree though that a burner upgrade is going to be a necessity soon.

The MDS file when selected would get around the FAT32 problem if they were ripped properly into 1gb size. The OP's real problem is the burner not recog. the blank media properly.

Does the computer play the disc, or do you just see something when you explore the disc? If you just see something, you may just be seeing the icon(s) for the files, instead of the actual files. Click on them and see how big the files are. As I showed before........ the log shows the disc burned in just over one minute. I don't see how that's possible, unless the log is giving false information.
Try another brand of blank. The dvd players may not like the brand you're using. Try Verbatim or Sony (small package). No need to go buy a big pack, until you know if they'll work.
