can you see that little icon in the top right hand corner on each of your posts, thats the edit button you're best off using that to add to your posts because multi posting is against forum rules,
are you trying to upgrade to official 3.03 fw or the 3.03 oe custom firmware

@N4th
You need to be more specific at what your trying to do.
Quote: 3.03 Upgrader on Version 2.81 - it isn't working?
This could mean a few things.
It could mean your trying to update your 2.81 official firmware PSP to 3.03 Official firmware so you can downgrade to 1.50.
It could mean your trying to upgrade your 2.81 official firmware PSP with 3.03 OE-C custom firmware. (In this case you need to downgrade to 1.50 first then update to custom firmware)
The more info you give the easier it will be for us to help.

3.03 Official firmware HERE.
I would also recommend upgrading to 3.52 M33 then to 3.52 M33-4 after you downgrade to 1.50.

Do the below steps.
Create an UPDATE folder in the ms0:/PSP/GAME folder.
Extarct and rename the 3.03 update firmware I linked to above to EBOOT.PBP
Place that in the ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE folder and run in Game Menu.

Try naming the 3.03 update to.
ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE/EBOOT.PBP
ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE/UPDATE.PBP
ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE/303.PBP
Try each of those. If you still get the Can't start game error then I dunno what to tell ya.

Hi folks,
I am having the same problem exactly. I tried all 3 versions of naming which were suggested to original creator of thread both 'update.pbp' and '303.pbp' cause the icon in game section of XMB to show as corrupted file and therefore give 'can't run corrupted file' error and the 'eboot.pbp' option - which I ahve tried several times, keeps giving the same error ie. 'This game could not be started' 80020148. all of this, of course in the /PSP/GAME/UPDATE folder.
I have had no problems both upgrading and downgrading my other 2 PSP's and consider myseof a fairly savvy user. I have been programming PCs since 1986, programming in Windows since 1988 and playing around with PSPs for a couple of years now.
I have downloaded the 3.03 file from two different, well used addresses and both files were identical sizes etc. so I'm sure it's not the file itself.
PLEASE HELP - same as our friend above - I am trying to upgrade an official 2.81 PSP to official 3.03, after that I'm sure I'll haveno trouble downgrading to 1.5 as I have the correct version of GTA for the job (luckily one of the first UMD games I bought).
Hoping for relief soon - thanx, Dain

Try naming the update to UPDATE drop the .PBP extension. If you have the extension hidden then renaming it UPDATE.PBP will actaully rename it to UPDATE.PBP.PBP
If that dosen't work try naming it UPDATE.PBP and place it in the /PSP/GAME folder. Don't use the UPDATE folder.

Hi Larry,
Thanks for the suggestion. I tried all the options you mentioned plus a few variations but still no go. Either 'No game exist' when the PBP file is placed in GAME folder only - no matter what it's named. Otherwise any filename other than EBOOT.PBP in the UPGRADE folder shows as corrupt file in the XMB listing, interestingly even an empty upgrade folder. EBOOT.PBP displays as it should ie. 'PSP Update ver 3.03' but as previously stated, refuses to run - only cooming up with same old 'This game...' error.
I am totally stumped. I've never had this problem before and this PSP has never shown any wierd or quirky errors before. Any other ideas - ANYONE???

Use 1 of those 1.50/Custom Firmware PSP's to create a Magic Memory Stick + Pandora Battery then use that to install custom firmware to the PSP. HERE is a guide that walks you through those steps.
Even tho it is an unbricker it can also be used to downgrade/install custom firmware to an official PSP.

Hi Larry,
Thanks again for you prompt reply. Yes - that option had occurred to me. But to be honest I was hoping that I could use the 3.03 and then 1.5 downgrade. In fact my main concern is my current 2 downgraded PSP's are now running 3.71 M33 and both are having trouble running some of my favourite homebrew eg. PSP Rhythm 7.1 - hardly anything homebrew works, even thought both installs I ran the appropriate 1.5 addons. So I particularly wnat to donwgrade this PSP to 1.5 and NOT go to M33, even if it means using DevHok etc. - I want to be able to run homebrew properly. But if I have to - I'll bite the bullet and do the Pandora version.
No other suggestions for 3.03 upgrade?
Thanx again, Dain

Use the linked guide above and instead of choosing option 4 choose option 1 and it will install the orignal Pandora which unbrickes/downgrades to 1.50 firmware.
