Joining lots of different avi files together as 1 avi file!!

I have about 5 avi files all about 120 mb each i want to make them into 1 bigger avi file so that is is just 1 avi file!

Conditions: all avis must have same resolution and same framerate.
1. Load AVI in vdubmod.
2. Select Direct Stream Copy in video menu.
3. File--->Append Segment Save AVI.
4. Repeat using the newly appended AVI.

Yeah i have tryed that already with virtuladubmod but the avis resolution area all different, any other ideas??

Nope, as far as I know you can only join avis with same resolutions. Youll probably have to re-encode the files using the same resolutions.

If you have a Good Quality Video editor like Premier or Vegas Video you can Join them all into one File But then will all be re-encoded by the editor to the same Resolution , framerate and audio format, which means you will loose some Quality unless you use Uncompressed AVI or the HuffyUV codec but you will need a LOT of Disk space.....good Luck

Heheh if you REAALLY want to do this with no resizing:
1. Figure out which files have what resolution. Also figure the one with the largest resolution. Select the set of files that do not conform to the most popular size.
2. Open VirtualDub, open the movie, File --> Output as Image sequence. Repeat for each movie.
3. Open Photoshop or something. Batch the following operation:
- Create new image of the above determined resolution.
- Flll with black
- Paste in the current frame
- Save as JPEG
4. Create the movie sequence with those JPEGs.
5. Insert the sound.
As crazy as this may sound, it might not take as long as it sounds. :p

Hi,
What is the last step? File -> Save as AVI? I tried but vdub was creating a huge AVI file, 30GB+ so I had to stop it.

If you did "Save AVI" in V-Dub you have to have the "Video" on "Direct stream copy" and if you have it on "Full proscessing Mode" you have to select a codec to compress it to ,if you don"t it will make an Uncompressed AVI file which can take up to 1.2gb per minute of Video.....Cheers

If you choose to use a codec for whatever purposes, in most cases, Fast Recompress is usually adequate and can be loooooooooots faster than Full Stream Processing

Yeah, "Direct Stream Copy" has to be selected after the 2nd file is appended, then Save.

In most cases, you'll want to use Direct Stream Copy although for quick recodes or other stuff, Fast Recompress is probably a better/applicable setting :-)
