Lately my psp had hardly any memory left on the memory card at all, even though i had deleted all my audio, video and images so their was nothing on the memory card. After a while i did a search in windows specifically searching the memory card for the format .mp4 video and .mp3 audio and it found a lot of audio and video that i had deleted but for some reason it was hidden somewhere else on the memory card where i couldn't see it on the psp and i couldn't see it on the regular removable disk screen and it was taking up all my memory. The folder i found it in was called "Portable Media Devices\Removable Disk (E:)\Recycled". Anyone had the same problem before ?

Not really, but i recently downgraded a mates PSP, when i'd added files, then deleted them, i noticed that there was still some room being taken up by "nothing",(And no it wasn't a fake card) i just formatted it and the space came back.

that happens all the time don't know why i erased the other day everything when i went to properties said 265mb used , then i went like what?? after format 66MB used , so you are not the only one.
those files identify the psp as a psp (for example if you use any software and add the psp as a portable device it will add like "USb Drive" but if you format from the psp it's say Sony PSP)instead of just any usb flash drive , i would say format it from the psp then all those files would be creatd again cuz if you format in thepc and start creating folders not so smart. ;)

I had this same problem after deleting a couple of games in the PSP ISO folder using Windows explorer while connected with USB, but getting no space back on the memory card.

You are right in that this causes deleted files to still remain on the memory card in a hidden folder (still hidden whatever folder/view options you select in Windows XP).

The simplest thing (in Windows XP) is to right click on the 'removable drive' that the PSP shows as while connected with USB and select 'open as portable media device'. You can then see the Recycle folder and delete it's contents - no need to reformat and lose or backup your other files!

After testing it seems if you delete files/games on the memory card direct from the PSP they do not get 'recycled' but properly deleted and free up the space.
