My cousin is sending me a modded Wii from Japan. If I remove the drive from his unit, can I swap it with a US version Wii?

what is the point in swapping drive??
the modding is on the drive.
plus i dont think it will work.

The reason why is because I think I foobared the drive. I ruined 2 solder pads on the drive board. I don't know if I can fix this. This is a brand new Wii. I thought that if I swap out a drive w/board that it would work. My cousin was nice enough to give me his modded Wii (Japanese Version). I have the US (NTSC) version. I just wanted to know if I swaped out the drives if it would work? When I try to turn on my Wii, it keeps wanting to eject. The unit does not fully power on with unit. I think it is screwed. Unless any of you guys have any insight otherwise.

If all you did is kill a few pads - you can usually just reapir the thing. I went through the same ordeal, tried to do it myself and took off 2 pads from the PCB. Then I went to a pro modder, the guy fixed it in front of me in about 10 minutes...

Just go to a professional modder with a good reputation.
