hi all,

I got my wiikey installed, all points and sodder are beautiful.. no worries there..

but here lies the problem...

my wii was updated 3.0 before i installed the wii key, on the official site it says if you are already running 3.0 you need a boot disc , and then you nee dthe set-up disc.

so I got both..

put in the boot disc.. it loads it like a GC game, and i select run dvd.

it says to insert a disc, so i load the setup disc, and selct a (to make it run) and it shows me the contents of the setup disc..

what do i do at this point? what do i select?

I have been reading forum after forum for about 12 hours now, and i cannot seem to find anything stating what to do after the boot disc is inserted and runs fien.. what do i do once the setup disc is inserted..

please help... i am losing my freakin mind here!

oh, BTW.. i thaught maybe i had a bad setup disc, so i have downloaded a few from different sorces, and tried them on different media.. (i have a stack of coasters now..)

this is a NTSC (usa) wii..

thanks again..

ok i got it to load,, i used the v1.9 and it worked. so i loaded the setup disc into it and change the region and disc speed settings as per your guys instructions..

maybe I am missing something, but when i select save changes, shouldnt it save?

it says its saved, but

if i put the disc back in and load it again, it has the default settings.. is it me or is this odd?

i figured if i can load the boot disc, and i can load the setup disc, the mod was installed correctly..

I tried to play paper mario 8 , and it gave me a black screen saying to eject the disc, and restart my wii..

it is supposed to be an NTSC version, and my wii is a ntsc..

any suggestions?

There are plenty of links with v1.9, just google and you should find them. They are leaked beta though.

baker462: The changes is saved but you won't see it, this is because it is running in stealth mode.

Have you tried to play other games? Also use the same media that you burnt your setup disc with.

I get black screen sometimes, but a simple power on and off brings the console back.

lbtom, as stated earlier in this thread, the wiikey setup disc is used to SET configuration options on the wiikey. It is not used to DISPLAY those settings. So every time that you pop the config disc in, all settings will look the same, no matter what you changed previously. It doesn't show you what you set them to, it's just a tool to do it.

So here lies my question. My WiiKey config disc won't work however the "leaked" 1.9 update disc works fine and successfully flashed my WiiKey. However even after the flash the config disc won't work, my originals work fine and i'm burning a backup as I type to see if it works. Is there any explanation for that?

yes, the old setup disc doesn't work with the leaked firmware update. We are waiting for a new one from the wiikey team.

Hi all, I am having the same problem and need some help fast. I have a 3.0 updated wii. I soldered the Wiikey fine. I was able to load 1.9b update disc from the wiikey website. The boot disc shows up as a game cube game but says that the disc has an error and won't load. I burned mario party and super mario strikers and they will not work. So far the only thing to work is the 1.9b update disc. Someone please help!!!!!

Yeah similar problems here too...Had the Wii already updated to 3.0U. Burned like 9 discs for the 1.3 config disc all but the dynex said there was a gamecube game in the disc slot but upon using the disc channel it get the DRE. But then I read this site and tried the 1.9b flash which worked fine. So as of right now I have 3.0U for the Wii and 1.9b for the wiikey and cannot get the setup disc to work. It could be the media, but if there is somethign else can someone let me know? Once again I have been able to load the 1.9b onto the Wii and have been able to get the 1.3 config disc to be seen as a gamecube disc in the disc channel but I try to access it and get the DRE (i like to call it the black screen of death ahahahah..it sucks) So if anyone can help me out I'd appreciate it. Next question is what are the recomended settings for the wiikey once I get the config disc up and running? Last question is even though I haven't been able to config the wiikey am I still able to play burned games, or do I need to get the config disc going first?

I am about to buy some TY discs from the following site for future...backups...but in the mean time I just want to get the config up. But ultimately it seems like the chip is in there right so.

http://www.supermediastore.com/taiyo-yud...vd-r-media.html
can anyone confirm that these are legit TY discs? The fact that they have like a guide on the site makes me think they are but price isn't bad at all.

Please and thanks

Hey to all with the 3.0US firmware and the 1.9b flash/1.3config disc..try this

Burn the 1.9b flash and load that up (it should be read no problem) next burn **1.2 config disc!** and load that up and turn on region free for your wii
Next Burn 1.3 config disc and load...it should load without issue now (now that the region free has been turned on)
1.9b flashes your wiikey chip to the newest firmware and the config discs allow to to setup the settings you want to use on the wii from the wiikey ie. region free, game dumps, and dvd rom read speed. but once again try the following

Burn and run 1.9b (on a dvd, pref a -r, after you have the wiikey installed)
Burn and run 1.2 config disc and turn on region free
Burn and run 1.3 config disc and setup your wii how you'd like it to be and you should then be good to go

Hi I tried this and it didn't work. There is something wrong and I am not sure how to fix it. I know the chip is soldered correctly dude to a continuity test from the chip pins to the solder points. The update disc loads. So that means the chip is soldered correctly. So the problem must be in either the disc media or the way I am burning the disc or that nobody has gotten a 3.0 updated Wii to function with a wiikey installation after upgrade.

I did exactly what I explained in my post...furthermore I had 3.0U before installing my wiikey...so everything I did was post 3.0U update aka the wiikey install the running of 1.9b and the inability to run 1.3 so i ran 1.2 and turned on region free then re loaded 1.3

Yeah I did everything that you said. Something is definitely wrong as it is not working properly. So if the 1.9b update disc works and updates the flash correctly does this mean that the WiiKey is installed correctly? Next what 1.2 config disc did you use? The one on the Wiikey website?
