hold your powerswitch up for 10seconds, till the green light goes off.
plug in your AC adapter, try to turn it back on. (this is known as a cold boot) the ac adapter isn't for anything except if ur battery is drained. see if that works.

3.40 doesn't have a recovery mode--no official Sony firmwares do.
@adi14
If nothing else works out, you may have to return your PSP to either the store you bought it from or back to Sony. Hopefully, they'll give you a replacement for no charge.

@adi14-did you try just plugging in your AC adaptor without the battery inserted? Sounds like you have a bad battery-I dont think you bricked though, because you were able to play your game after you updated the firmware,right?

Sounds like you you are having bad luck with psp's-
I know this may be a long shot, but did you try pressing the contrast/brightness button (the one next to the musical note button)? I know sometimes when you update or downgrade firmware, and you have one of those TA-082 motherboards that happens..
I want to say its not bricked because like you said, it required you to update the firmware in order to play the game-and you were playing the game afterwards...Its hard to say-could be hardware related-Your LCD screen might have fizzled out-Or maybe it did indeed brick after you updated the firmware....
Are you still under warranty? If so, you can send it back to Sony for a replacement....
