What speed should i be burning games at? Some work fine at 4x like Kingdom Hearts 2 or Final Fantasy XII but then some skip on cinemas like God of war 2 but it works better on 8x. So i thought 8x could work with the other games but then Persona 3 wont even load at all now? any tips??

rule of thumb - burn at half the max rated speed of the disc.

I was having problems burning stuntman onto taiyo tuden discs with my pioneer 112d burner. Good media/burner combo, i tried at 8x and the game would stutter and act all wierd sometimes.

I burnt it again at 2.4x and it worked perfectly. I would stick with 2.4x.

I agree that usually the best bet is to burn an 8x at 4x or a 16x at 8x, but if that doesn't work then experiment with other speeds, and if that still doesn't work try another brand of good quality media, rinse and repeat.

10 sony discs for $10? Not a good deal at all.

I buy 100 Taiyo Yuden Discs for $25.

Sony are ok discs but they don't seem to be working for you so I'd try Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden.

It's hit or miss with some media. It's best you check out the media ID code of your blank discs and see if what kind class of media it is.

I have first class and second class media, and they all worked fine so far.

How long does it normally take to burn a 4gb file at 8x speed? it feels like whenever i change the speed to burn it, it really is just burning at 2.2x cuz when i burn at 4x it takes 30 mins and when i burn at 8x it takes 30 mins. And now on 4x and 8x it skips. Im thinking of buying Verbatim dvds to see if i still have a problem.

Your burner probably only supports burning at 2.4x, and half hour is about the normal time it'll take to burn a 4.something gb game.

if you read my media thread you'd see write speed is a myth. new burners pwn much better at high speeds. now only use taiyo yuden or verbatim. when writing to yudens write at 8x if they're tyg02 or yudent002. 12x if they're tyg03 or yudent003.

for verbatims the same. 8x if they max out at 8x and 12x if they max out at 16x
