Hi all,

Was wondering if there is a video of a wiikey being installed somewhere online. Also, does anybody know if it is better to do the quicksolder method or wire method for the installation and what the difference is between the two? thanks.

I just mod my wii two week ago everything is working ,I did a quicksolder method ,this method is not recommended for those whom has not familiar to solder,even I have more than 15 year in electronic repair I still had a lot of difficulty to do quicksolder ,If this your first time it better going to wiring solder method .

Thanks, I'm going to try the wire method. I found this video online which may be useful for others especially if they know some Spanish.

One more question, do I have to cover the whole surface area of the metal points on the chip or can i just solder some of it and be fine?

The soldering points on it are pretty small. Once the solder touches it , it will be on the whole pad.

hmm that installation looks pretty bad. you're not suppose to leave the iron on the board for more than 3 seconds. they didn't cut the solder after each point to get a new batch of rosin. but i guess it's ok if he was successful.

Unfortunately you were right. After 2000 views Wiikey installation video was taken down by Youtube. It can still be found here and video quality is much better than Youtube can offer: http://kimmo.1g.fi/kuvat/videot/wii_mod_hq.flv

thank you, i managed to install a wiikey a few days ago. It was hard and took over 1.5 hours!!! I was trying to be real careful though...
