psp version 2.82 questions

hello, i am extremely new to psp homebrew, in fact i bought the cable and 1gb memory stick today.
i have read some forum posts and im a little confused. Can i downgrade from 2.82 straight to 1.50??
Where can i download the downgraders/UMD emulator from?
When i connect the USB to my laptop a removable drive doesnt show up?
My son is desperate for some new games so any help would be greatly appreciated.

do u have gta libertiy city? When i connect the USB to my laptop a removable drive doesnt show up on ur psp put the usb in then go up to usb connection and press x a drive should come up.

hi thanks for the reply, i have just looked on the spine of my GTA: LCS and it appears i have an unpatched version, however i dont know how to downgrade using this. I looked on psp.hacks.com and apparentley the number on the spine matches that of an unpatched version of the game.

or here is the easy install
1st : go here :http://www.psp-hacks.com/category/55
2nd :get 2 files 3.03 easy up and 3.03 easy down
3rd : using you liberty city stories umd , run 3.03 easy up
4th : then run 3.03 easy down again using your liberty city stories umd
5th : by now you have a ver. 1.50 PSP

hi ant and thankyou very much for your help so far.
like i say i am very new to this psp homebrewing, how do i use my GTA UMD to run the updater and downgrader that i have just downloaded from your links???
sorry for being abit stupid about all this, i am very thankful for your help (my son will be even more so in the morning ;)

i'm here to help your not been stupid, ok first use the 3.03 easy up connect ur psp to ur computer follow the instructions on screen. let me know when u have that done.

i am just installing the x.yz app at the moment following the instructions.
it gets abit confusing after this step though i think :S

right NOW i am confused.
Following the readme it says -
9. If it comes up saying that the settings are corrupt, press x to continue, this will mean you will need to re-enter the settings for network connections into your PSP, otherwise go to step 11.
It has told me that the settings are corrupt however when i press X nothing happens. The PSP screen says 'setting information is corrupted. press the O button to repair and restore default settings'
Should i press the O, as X doesnt seem to be doing anything?

Hello again, i opted for the O button and now with more than abit of luck i have fw 1.50!!
i really really appreciate your help.
Could you point me in the right direction of how to actually get a game on there now please.
i have an iso file on my pc at the moment but i have read somewhere that i need Freeloader or UMD emulator??
