I just bought a psp slim and have read some threads about downgrading and installing custom firmware. I see that I can install custom firmware if I can get a pandora battery and a magic memory stick. I can get the pandora battery but the only problem now is getting the things for the magic memory stick. I dont already have a psp with custom firmware so i cant make one myself nor do I know anyone who has a psp with custom firmware. So I was wondering if there was anywhere I could download the correct files to downgrade the psp. By reading the instructions for installing pandora it looks like the main file I need is the msipl.bin and the installer creates the rest of the files. So if someone could either send me a link to a place I can download this file or possibly e-mail it to me. My e-mail is ***removed***
edit: Im looking to buy a small MS pro duo that is coverted to a magic memory stick for around $10 (more than you would get for a 128mb-256mb on ebay) so if anyone is interested either PM on these forums or e-mail me at ***removed***.

I don't know if downgrading a psp slim would work. sony may have made the hardware resistant to it. but lucky for you there is already custom firmware for the psp slim, so you could make both the battery and mms yourself...probably

i just want to install a custom firmware actually. I cant get the msipl.bin file without using a psp with cfw i think. the directions for pandora seem to indicate that that is the only file that you need from the psp with cfw in order to make a magic memory stick.

Not really downgrading, but there is a way to get SOME but NOT ALL homebrew on the PSP Slim, but its better than nothing.

To get M33 firmware on a Slim you need someone with a Fat that can play homebrew.

what LeadBaron was saying is that the psp slim can't play all homebrews because it's using the sony 3.60 kernel.
now, to install 3.60 m33 on your psp slim, you will need an original fat psp with custom firmware to create the magic memory stick. there's no way around this. you can't just copy a msipl.bin file; it's written to the specific memory stick. i've tried copying a magic memory stick to a fresh memory stick, and it wouldn't boot the ipl.
ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure
got a whole lot more to list . . .

i have a 1gb Sony MS PRO Duo that came bundled with the psp slim. if anyone has the msipl.bin for that I would greatly appriciate if you sent it to me. I'd even be willing to pay if someone could send me the msipl for my specific card.

it still won't work. you would have to give someone your 1gig so it can be created to a magic memory stick. copying files will not work. they are locked onto the memory card that it's created on.

hmm in that case would anyone have a small MS pro duo that they could convert to a magic memory stick and sell to me? whatever the smallest size is would do. I would be willing to pay around $10 for it which is probably more than you would get were you to sell it on ebay or something.

^^Too bad most MS Pro duo's cost more than $10, even for only 128 MB. Plus the margin of profit, and the least you may be paying is gonna be around $25 (but then, at least you get a spare mem stick)

Why not just buy a 32 MB stick? Will it not fit?
FireAntX, you can send PSP to SHokz and sicdude for free. PM Shokz for more info.

Ummm, too bad that's just a regular Duo...\
Plus, you pretty much have to order a 32 mb PRO duo from Sandisk Japan, I don't think they come that small in N.A. or Europe.

guys i need some help:
i downloaded the 3.40 and 3.50 firwares, renamed them 340.PBP and 350.PBP.... I then put them in the folder pandora_slim. i then put padora_slim and pandora_slim% into psp\game. Now when i go to run the program, it says to press "cross" so i press it...then it says:
extracting 3.50's prx's....
cannot read 350.PBP or incorrect...
any ideas? what am i doing wrong here?
And yes i do hav a magic memory stick.
(do i hav to delete anything from the memory stick after i finished making it a "magic" one?)
thanks a lot.
