Well if you are like me you read first and then ask later.
I have not made my own PSX game rip although I have a huge collection of PS1 games I intend to move to my PSP. That being said, in the mean time, before I get comfortable with milling my own, I chose to *achem* "find" some pre-existing eboot.pbp files of the desired games that I was too impatient to do on my own and wait for....
So, like me, being in this thread you probably did the same and got the annoying "game could not be started. (80020148)" error.
The icon works, right? The game shows up! There's the background music! Click the icon, then you get the obligatory "blah blah blah instructions 'x' blah" screen right? But then poof! "the game could not be started. (80020148)" ARG!!!!
Well it boils down to this (oh BTW I am running 3.52 M33-2) the cause is the folder name. Argue all you want but, if I change the name to psp\game\whatever or psp\game\whatever% you get the problem. I changed this particular eboot.pbp (of tekken 3) from game\tekken etc. etc. to game\tekken3 and it worked. I got rid of the % and that did it. (had originally tried \tekken3%) Anyhow I don't think it really matters what characters are in the name, just as long as the name matches whoever ripped it's pointer.
So if you "aquire" your files then you will have to hope it has a txt file telling you the placement. MINE did not. I had to trial and error it. Also that pbp file I got, had nothing else, no bin, etc. Just eboot.pbp and I put it in the appropriate folder and voila! it works...
Just thought I would share that.
Moral of this story is make your own files.
