I was updating my psp and lost power and psp turned off.
all it will do is turn the green light on.
is there any fix for this, short of buying a new psp.

If you send it to Sony, they should replace it for you--granted it's still under warranty. If it's not, they'll charge you some money, but it's cheaper than buying a new PSP.

Another thing you could do is buy a Pandora Battery and a magic memory stick (they usually come as a set). When used, it unbricks your PSP and brings you back to 1.50 firmware. If you know anyone with a custom firmware PSP, you could ask them to make a set for you, but if not, your best bet is Ebay (don't spend more than $40, anything more is a rip-off.)

There is only a firmware restriction to creating Pandora's Battery (1.5) but it is fine to use it on any firmware at the moment.

He was updating his PSP, which means he most likely didn't have custom firmware. For those of you new to the PSP scene, ONLY custom firmwares have recovery mode. His PSP is bricked, no doubt about it.

It DOES matter what firmware his PSP has. There is a massive difference between a full brick and a semi-brick. You can only get a semi-brick if you have a custom firmware, which he didn't have because he was obviously between firmwares (updating from one to another), so technically, he didn't even have a firmware when his PSP bricked.

Molson has a fully bricked PSP, one that cannot, even if he had custom firmware, get into recovery mode. It can not be fixed by a recovery program because he has no way to run it.

If you still don't believe me, here are the two programs you get when you search mininova for PSP recovery.

PSP - 1 5 RECOVERY FOR OE-FW

PSP Semi brick custom firmware Recovery to 1 5 downgrade [EDITED OUT LINK]

In case you don't understand, both of those say that you need a CUSTOM FIRMWARE to recover. It may have worked for you because you did have a custom firmware, so please stop trying to contradict us and get your facts straight before giving people false hope.
