Resident Evil 2 Dual SHock Version question on PSP

So I'm playing the Dual Shock Version of Resident Evil 2 on my PSP and something confuses me. Origionally on the old one you had disc 1 and disc 2, instead of disc Leon and disc Claire. Will this effect how the game works in any way when it comes to multiple character things? Like doing the whole game, both Claire and Leon? Because there are some points where the outcome on Leon's disc effects the outcome on Claire's disc (whether you take either the Uzi or Side Pack). I can understand how this will work on the origional one, but with this having seperate discs for each path kind of confuses me as to whether it will work properly or not.
