A very simple question - from a rather simple person so please don't shout Yuriv, (some of us are better at other things... maybe....).

In Nero Vision Express there is a choice of burning to either PAL, or to NTSC formats.

As Minion says that "a high end Editor like Premiere or Vagas video 4" will take care of the PAL to NTSC conversion, is it possible that once I've captured an original PAL DV project to Nero Vision Express, it now gives me the choice of output to PAL or NTSC DVD - looking after the format conversion on the way like Premiere? Or am I dreaming?!

Nero vision Express would not do the Pal/NTSC Conversion Properly,I wouldn"t use Nero Vision Express For anything because it is a Notoriously Awefull Program and should only be used by the stupid or the desperate.. If the AVI file you have is in DV Format then there Programs that are meant to Convert Pal/NTSC DV AVI files, But you are better off useing a High end editor to do the conversion, They can actually convert the PAL DV AVI file into a NTSC Mpeg2 DVD File.....

Hey Paris7,
Minion is right about the NeroVision Express, you need something more sophisticated for PAL/NTSC conversion. Like I mentioned in another thread, the program Canopus Procoder is great at doing this conversion.
And hey, i don't know it all, but I am trying to help people out here. I think I shouted in another thread because the same question was being discussed in at least two other threads that were close to the top of the forum. A search wasn't even needed to find the answer, just a quick look at the titles of the thread on the first screen or two.
We all do our best....

Procoder is sold by a company called Canopus, the website is:

http://www.canopus.com/US/products/ProCoder/pm_procoder.asp

There is a demo, but it is limited to a short bit of video. Because this is a pricey bit of software, you might want to check eBay, I have seen used copies of it for sale.

Good luck....

Thanks Minion and Yuriv, I'm going to have another look at Adobe Pemiere 6.2, I've already got it but haven't noticed that it will convert PAL to NTSC! I guess it's yet another example of "if all else fails, follow the instructions".

I've thought about Canopus Storm 2 or Matrox RTX10 as part of a package to update my Premiere 6.2 to Prmiere Pro (7). But guess what? I rebuilt my computer around a Gigabyte GY SINXP 1394 motherboard so that I could rally make an editing leap.......... Matrox doesn't support its SIS 655 chip and the all new, utterly "wonderful" Premiere Pro won't work properly with Firewire hard disk drives...
What does Adobe think it's up to, can't win can you?
