Hi All,

First post here and I must say I have found the site to learn what I want to do the info on here is unbelievable. I have been reading and reading and reading but being new to this its really kind of overwhelming.

So here is my goal:
I want to transfer downloaded movies from my hard drive to a DVD+R that I can play in my home TV player.

Here is what I have already done:
I have followed the "To Convert AVI movies/files into DVD using Nero Vision 4 guide by alkohol" I choose to write it to a desktop folder.
It created a video_ts main folder and 10 other files. 3 video_ts and 7 VTS _01_01 - 05
Next I followed the "How to burn VIDEO_TS file with Nero and ISO image with ImgBurn"
I used Nero burning ROM just as the guide instructed. When it was done I put the DVD in the player and NOTHING I got an error message on the TV screen saying " Uninitialized disk". Now please keep in mind I have a VERY basic understanding of how all this works which is why I am here to change that. But the DVD only has a small portion burned in relation to other movies I have done...well Ok 1 other and I have NO idea how that worked but it did. I did not use the guides for that one I just fumbled through it and some how came up with a good one. I know that the files I downloaded are OK because I watched the whole movie last night (from my PC)as just a windows movie. Let me see what else I can add that may help you guys help me.
I'm using a samsung Writemaster extremal DVD/CD burner Model se-s184. I'm using Nero version 7 something. I honestly don't know what else you may need but I'm sure there is something so be patient with me and keep in mind I did a lot of reading before posting a question but apparently not enough. Oh, I almost forgot the DVD that was burned has on it the same files as mentioned above but also has a Audio file (empty) hmmmm that doesn't seem right..shouldnt something be in the audio folder?..what ever this is already too long, sorry.

I will appreciate an help that you can give me. Suggesting other guides that may pertain to what I'm doing would also be appreciated.
I keep thiking of things..I updated the firmware at the samsung site and I am fairly certin it was the proper firmware. I got freaked because it said if its the wrong one you could dissable the drive ect. But after I updated I put a dvd in and it played so Im assuming its ok. Im sure its just something "I" missed and not my hadware or software.
Thanks again.

It's very simple when using the correct tools (software) correctly, if you do this often, then you won't mind paying a little $$ for the software application that makes it all work.

Buy convertxtodvd, it's the best at doing what you're trying to do and works every time.

Convertxtodvd
http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/

It's this simple:
1) Download the movie, if it's in a compressed format, then extract the contents of the file. If you need an extraction app, try using a favorite of mine called 7-zip (it's free).

7-zip

2) Run convertxtodvd and add the video file, configure convertxtodvd to convert the video files to either the PAL or NTSC format and set it to save the files on your hard drive or burn them directly to DVD (your choice, convertxtodvd has a burning app).

If you have convertxtodvd save the files to your hard drive, you'll have to burn them to DVD manually yourself.

I do it often with perfect results.
Cheers:)
