What do I need to mod a 360 elite?

Looking at saving games to the 360 elite harddrive and then playing them off of that instead of backup discs..

1. what mod chip to you remommend?

2. I notice the xecutor blaster 360.. Is this a good tool to connect the 360 to my PC to flash the bios/install any necessary hardware to achieve my goals?

3. What software would I be looking at to reach my end result??

thx.. for the info..

if anyone has any other options that they know work for this project, please share them

only games you can play from the harddrive are one's that you buy and download from the Xbox Live Marketplace.

So in other words don't buy an Elite? I'm a PS3 owner and was thinking about picking up a Xbox. I am new to this and still doing my research. Can I still hack a newer xbox(not Elite)?

I've got a modified Elite with a Samsung drive. It works 100%. I also have a Blaster 360 which lets me flash the drive with new firmware without having to open the 360.

The 360 still has to be opened to install the Blaster. And in less time than it takes to install it, the firmware can be flashed without it.

The Elite can play backups by either:

- finding one which came with a Hitachi 78 drive. But only a few came with that drive when it was first released in the States. They can no longer be found new.

- replacing the Hitachi 79 / Benq drive with an older Hitachi or Samsung. But that's no easy task. The drives can be easily bought, but the drive key must be extracted from the original drive being replaced and inserted into the new drive.

Both the Hitachi 79 and the Benq CAN be flashed with new firmware, but there isn't any available for them yet. So... you can either hold out on the Elite until firmware is available or pick one up now and replace the drive.
