hi i have a uk 60gb ps3 and i am on virgin 20mb bb using a linksys WRT54GS wifi router
up until last week i was on just a 4mb line and now that ive upgraded i am not seeing any difference im my download speeds from ps store or online gaming,
do i need to open any ports on my router or any other config that i should be doing to get the ps3 to run faster or is the wifi on the ps3 just slow?

try googling portforward for ps3 then follow a guide there, and see if that will speed up your dl speeds

i dont think you need to forward any ports (i opened all ports to test any change in download speed, no luck...) on the router. I have tried absolutely everything to speed uo my downloads from the Playstation Store. I have 8MB Bulldog Broadband and a Netgear DG834GT Router, my PS3 is connected via Wifi, however i tried using the ethernet cable provided with the PS3 and connected it directly to my router and there is no change in download speed compared to the Wifi method. I have also played around with the security settings for wireless, i.e. WEP, WPA, etc, at one point i also removed all security from the network but still no change in download speed on PS3.

ive been playing around with it all morning now and not getting it to download any faster, its downloading at about 1mb every 5-6 seconds by my count, there should be a download speed indicator on the ps3,
is there a way to run a speed test via the ps3?

How many devices are on your network? How many of these devices are running? On another note the PSN traffic might have been high. I get about a megabyte per second when downloading. Sometimes I get a meg about every 10 seconds but thats rare.

its only have my ps3 and pc on my network, for a 20mb bb line it should be better,

You can only download as fast as the PSN can upload. What time of day are you trying this? I have days where the d/l's are slow (like the Slowski's) and other days, usually at odd hours, that the damn thing flies. Could just be excessive traffic on the PSN.
