I don't see the reason of so much advertisement everywhere you go you see halo 3 propaganda. Why? If the game is so good then why does it need so much advertisement?

Thanks guys!

doesnt make no sense. they spent 10 million alone on advertisement, plus many more millions producing those stupid helmets and extra discs containing what?? a making of Halo 3, and all those Halo web episodes that surely every sucker who bought a $130 game already has every episode on the hard drive of their pc. now on top of this there is a secondary edition which is collectible as well and the standard edition game.

$170 million hasnt covered all expenses. besides look who's marketing the game...MS who hasnt been profitable with the xbox 360 yet in close to 2 years time and isnt expected to be til sometime 2008 at best. what a joke.

It's Microsofts systems and Microsoftsfranchise game, that's why. They overhype EVERYTHING. That is just so millions of people will run out and buy it, and guess what. It works.

Personallly Halo 3 is not a big deal. It is an OK game at best. Barely any changes from Halo 2, might as well be called Halo 2.5 instead.

half-Life Orange Box coming 10-9-07 is going to blow Halo 3 out of the water.

most over-rated game ever tbh

they all are

and the mediocrity of the franchise is shown up everytime they port it to PC

as for the advertising the hype machine that has followed every game has worked everyone talks about it

people are wanting to buy 360's off the back of it

if for every 4100 MS spent on advertising they made $110 then they would happily spend every penny they had on it the same as any other business would

Why do you all bash a game that is so much fun??!! If you're into multiplayer on live or with friends, its the ONLY game that is fun to play! As long as you're not into heavy combat/strategy games - which I'm not. Of course its similar to Halo 2, its a sequel to Halo 2, the last in a line of trilogies! If you all were hyped of about the newest release of COD or some strategy game like that, then I wouldn't see the hype either, but I wouldn't be bashing it!

The upgraded graphics, online/multiplayer options, galleries, theater, forge, new missions and maps - its all incredible compared to Halo 2!! It absolutely blows any other game out of the water if you're into it! Play Halo 2 online, then play Halo 3 online and tell me that there is not a significant difference in graphics, playability, weapon options, grenade options, map variants ... I could go on and on - but if you don't see the difference, then you don't see it ... 100% understandably if you don't like the franchise in the first place!

"If you're into multiplayer on live or with friends, its the ONLY game that is fun to play!"

That has got to be one of the most untrue statements ever. Rainbow Six Vegas online modes makes Halo look like junk. There are plenty of great shooters out there with online play. Did you forget Gears Of War? How about Lost Planet Or Ghost Recon? Call Of Duty 4 and Medal Of Honor Airborne. Or even the oldie but goodie Farcry Instincts Predator where you can build you own custom online maps to play with friends. Then of course there are more than enough non-FPS games that are extremely fun to play online.

Now don't get me wrong, Halo 3 is a good game. But it is far from being the best game around, which is what all they hype and fanboys would have you believe.

Right, but you missed the part where I mentioned that I'm not into hugely strategy based games like Rainbox Six or COD ... If you like those, then, yes, there are many other options, but in the format of Halo Multiplayer, its the only one that has lived up to something truly amazing to play online or with friends, locally!

it never ceases to fail me how fans of these games refer to one thing when all else fails. online multiplayer....yeah there's a lot of replay value there, but it certainly isnt both the meat and potatoes of one game. maybe one part at best depending on what else is in the game. online multiplayer is only good for so long and then it gets stale and stagnant after a while. kinda like Halo 2. for many non-obsessive gamers the game was possibly good for however long and then it just fell off. Halo fanboys.....best thing no matter what........play it til you simply cant play no more...............and this is where i see a problem.....a HUGE problem.

that problem being....Bungie basically telling the entire world the game is comparitive to say garbage as opposed to what it could've been, which in my mind essentially null/voids any opinion to the contrary, cause it's the damn developer saying this stuff!! sure people will always say and claim to the contrary, and think what they want, but the simple truth of the matter is they are playing something Bungie themselves looked down upon.

your claims of multiplayer being so good and nothing else just isnt cutting it BryanNH. some people are telling us exactly what Halo 3 is, and those people would be here in this thread.

Hey man, its just my opinion of the game! I got Halo 2 last year when I got my first xBox ... had been playing multiplayer with friends locally for several months before, and continued to do so until Halo 3 was released! I'd say that the replay value for someone who enjoys its multiplayer is incredible! Halo 3 just ups the anty with improved gameplay, options, weapons and most of all Graphics! Take it as you want, but its still my opinion and isn't everyone's cup of tea!

And you're absolutely right about any other aspect of the game - I could care less about the campaign mode - to me, Halo is just an online or local multiplayer game more or less, much in the same way Quake 3 Arena was ... I just finished the Halo 2 campaign 2 weeks ago for the first time - you're 100% right, I could care less about the campaign features - Halo 3 kicks butt as a multiplayer game!

I read what you wrote perfectly. But those games have free for all type modes the same as most online games where no real strategy is involved. The reason people shy away from them is because they require a higher skill level then a Halo game where you run and jump around randomly shooting at anything that moves. You actually have to aim in quite accurately to take out your enemies.

You talk about Halo 3 online as if it is some new type of game. But it is the same old thing that the regular Xbox had. Unreal Tournament, Painkiller, Star Wars Battlefront, Doom 3, Timesplitters, and even my beloved Half-Life all have about the exact same game style online. Run around and kill as many people as you can in a certain amount of time. There is nothing more to it then that.

If there is no objective to it then it just doesn't interest me. And i know millions of fans of Halo just love it and that is fine with me. But talking about the game like it is the next coming of god just makes me laugh.

I was playing it last night myself. But it is very repetitive after about 45 minutes of playing it.

Some people love it and others don't' nothing different than any other game really.

that's just the problem i'm talking about right there. people treating it like it's merely a multiplayer game and nothing more. and from what i can see, reviews on sites that allow members to make reviews of games themselves have mainly meritted Halo unworthy praise based on one sole aspect and nothing more. it's no wonder everyone who doesnt like Halo says it's overrated, cause it's essentially overrated for the wrong reason.

and i wasnt trying to come down on you about Halo 2 and multiplayer aspects of games, but a point had to be proven. like what i said about Bungie practically dissing Halo 2. go look on gamespot for the article or w/e that has it. it's there. they dissed it as a whole and said it all needed to be better. hence the multiplayer map pack afterward.

anyways multiplayer just isnt the only fun aspect. i'm sure if you gave campaign a try then you may find it fun as well in it's own way. i among a few other people simply will see it as good, or w/e if we even play the game. i most likely will play it at a friends like i did with Halo 2, cause i played through Halo CE myself and didnt really find it that great, then when Halo 2 was released i didnt expect much from it and maybe played a mere 10 minutes and put down the controller. i'll do the same with Halo 3. see if my friend has it and try it for a little bit, but i aint buying into the hype.

Personally, I ignored the hype machine because I intended on purchasing it anyway. I am not a big LIVE gamer, and really wasn't a fan of Halo 2, but wanted to finish the story and see what the enw game had to offer. I must say the multiplayer on this is more fun then Halo 2, and the campaign was much better as well. I won't say I am converted, but the game has been worth the time I have spent playing it. And Bungie definetely fixed a lot of the mistakes they made in 2.
