No. It is impossible. SwapMagic is made to read only PS2 discs. It's just like saying, "can I replace my chevy headlights with you subaru headlights?" You can however, use the Cogswap trick to play PSX games. Cogswap requires MC Exploit.

Look for the Swap Magic kit that comes with the third disc which can be used for PS1 games. Easy to find on the web, comes with an extra disc for using PS1 nackups on your PS2. Its what I use, works great.

Quick Edit: The third disk is called Breaker Pro.

Cogswap, in my experience, can't be used to play PS1 backups. It can't even be used to play PS2 CD backups, as it'll simply load the boot game you try to use instead of loading its copy protection information and letting you swap for your backup.

The other suggestions work, though, of course. In addition, using a Gameshark Lite (PS1) works for loading PS1 games. And it's extremely cheap and easy to find online (I got mine for $10, which is including shipping, on eBay).

In some case it'll work. I've gotten it to boot up PSX/PS2 (CD & DVD) a couple of time. But even if that, I still prefer not to use it. I don't know but i'm guessing cogswap will only work with certain games??? I don't know.

I'm not sure. I've heard mixed reports about it, though more about it *not* working. All I know is that with the few CD-based PS2 games I have, every time I try putting it in and pressing X for it to read it, the game just boots up instead of letting me swap.

As for PS1 games, I'm pretty sure it couldn't be done. If it could, there wouldn't be so many threads and forums all over the place full of people who are still begging for people to come up with a way to load PS1 backups more easily than using a swap disc.

breaker pro works. plays import games too.

just dont change the playstation textures to smooth, or the disc speed to fast. that messes it up.

it will run perfect you will need a ps1 memory card

but the graphics are pretty rough, it looks pretty dated. a big lcd will show all the imperfections

on crt tv, you will notice the scanlines very much unless your tv is small . psx games are what 320x240 resolution?

you can get (much) better graphics with emulator such as epsxe1.5.2

swap magic = designed for booting ps2 games with ps2 bios.

when you put in a psx game, ps2 detects it, then loads a completely different bios. psx bios

therefore swap magic wouldnt work

but if there is some kind of third disk now that boots psx bios/backups, that may work. i havent heard of that tho. it is probably just a copy of breaker pro anyways
