Currently all i want to do is have a successful and non-damaging way to load custom guitar hero's on my PS2.

should i:
A. get a ps2 and a modchip
a. do i need anything besides the modchip/wire?
b. will this damage my system after installed correctly?(laser damage)
B. get swap magic discs or some kind of boot disc
a. will this let me boot ps2 backups?
b. do i need something else? (solderless modchip?)

thank you.
if you suggest one or the other could you please link me to the correct location to find what i need. thank you

thanks
chris.

Instead of risking your ps2 getting broken or messed up you should just go with the swap magic disc. Its easy and simple and you dont have to worry about your ps2 being damaged trying to modify it.
