NTSC and PAL PS3??

What is the difference between an NTSC and a PAL PS3?? Or does this not apply to this system since it is supposedly regionfree??

I live in North America and use an NTSC system, but might possibly purchase a PS3 that is PAL (from the UK). Would this affect me at all? What do you guys recommend??

Ive read that one issue regarding the PS3 region is the display resolution. I will be playing it on a 1080p monitor. So what should I do??

From what I've heard which may be untrue some hd tvs have the ability to run both resolutions. Also you could buy a converter to change the resolution. Try downloading a game demo from a different region(such as the UK) and see if it plays. If it does then you should be ok. If you do buy a PAL ps3 you have to take into account that the voltage is different for the power supply.
