if you use high quality media then it wont also if it isnt backuped right then the game will run slow or the ps2 will make noise thats when you know its messing with the laser otherwise if the game runs great without stuttering its ok

just use good quality media

well you need to use some method of taking out the swap disk to put in the backup. Your options are slide card, flip-top, or just play with the top part of the case off. Flip-top is the easiest though. So I would recommend flip-top.

I recommend fliptop as well, def easier, and I felt uneasy using the slide card repeatedly myself. Was worried it would ruin the drive over time.

Newbie, need some help. Just rec'vd and installed Swap Magic 3 plus and flip top on grandsons PS2. (70012). Created a DVD backup iso image of Guitar Hero two. Used Nero to burn at 4x on Imation DVD-R..(16x) and another on Sony DVD+R (1x-16x). Using Swap Magic, both load very slowly, and eventually play but stop and start every few seconds, both audio and video....factory DVD plays fine.
Purpose of the backup file was to put some new songs in GH for g/son. I downloaded instructions and built the ISO file useing Guitar Hero Explorer,Apache 3 and cd/dvd generator.
Everything I've read on this forum so far indicate it may be the result of bad media....are the ones I used considered bad (poor)?
Appreciate any help here, g/son disappointed...dern, these kids toys are complicated now.......

I use Imation DVD-R 16x and I've never made any coasters, even when burning movies. So I would say that you just didn't build the ISO properly.

i just got to use my swap magic, burned it on SONY DVD-R's on 4X, a guitar hero backup aswell the custom versions... though i didnt make my version i downloaded it. Maybe its the version of GH you made? try copying and original game you own and see how it runs.

@grizzly12
imation discs are usually not recommeded for ps2's. Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden and Sony's are recommended. Though it is best to get them in DVD-R type. I've seen more success with -R than with +R. Though some people do claim that +R works with their ps2 perfect. Guess it's just a matter of what your ps2 fancy's.

Dunno where you got that from. I've burnt 12 PS2 games this week at 4x using Imation DVD-R and I've never had a single issue. I've also burnt countless movies without any issues. If you do it right you won't any have problems. It's people who think you can burn games at 16x using DVD+R who have issues.

People just love pulling things out of their asses *sigh*

Sometimes its the disc, and sometimes its the version of the PS2. Reason I say this is because I have a fat ps2 version 4, and my friend has a fat ps2, version 7.

I have prince of persia game, the videos are jerky and skippy on my ps2, but it runs smooth on his.

Reason I said imation's are not recommended is because most people don't have luck with them. With you being an exception. It is rather hard to get a bad burn with the three types of disc's I mentioned. Even if you burn at high speeds.
