i definitely have wiikey
i am running windows XP
and used imgburn at 3x and 1x
in the past i have successfully burned games at 3x many many times, so i have no idea why this isn't working
the expanded file is 1.35 gb so everything seems to be right.

Originally posted by Kafluke: culius, you don't need to fix the size. Just burn the iso for your region of console (us, pal, etc) and then put it in the wii. Not that complicated.
Now, see if you would have just listened, you could have been done with this long ago.

I have successfully upgraded the wii to 1.9b and the first time i used the 1.3 config disk it let me in the only thing i did was set the drive speed to 3x and then saved and reset. The backup games work. however everytime i try and go back into the config 1.3 i get a read error message.
I insert the config disk and i see the gamecube logo but as soon as i try to access it i get a read error message "eject disk turn of Wii"
anyone have any ideas
Wii PAL(one of the first batch)
Using datawrite titanium -r
config disk 1.3 filechop to 1.35gb

Hi Guys,
One thing must be made clear to all that burn back-ups/ Updates
for the Wii. Is to make sure your using DVD-R disks at all times
these are the only disks the Wii can read, as I found out after
6 coasters.Pays to read the fine print sometimes, LOL.

Almost all the guides and in the update read me file from wiikey
themselves say DVD-R disk. this excerpt is from read me file.
|
Flashing the update
-------------------
The update ISO is located in update/wkupdate.1.9b.xx.iso, where
xx responds to a region, ie us, jap, or pal. To burn the image
to a DVD-R, it should first be padded as many DVD recorders will
not burn the image in its original size correctly. This can be
by executing the following command (assuming you are in the
update/ directory): filechop.exe wkupdate.1.9b.xx.iso 1459978240
where xx corresponds to your region. This will create a 1.4GB
image which can be recorded using Image Burner or other software.
of course it took me 6 dvd+r coasters to find out this fact.

Hey guys, quick question. I know I'm a little behind but I just wana make sure I'm doing this correctly coz I've semi-bricked my wii once =S I'm currently on 2.2U firmware so I just want to know if I need to update to 3.0U firmware first before I use the 1.9b wiikey update disc and then the 1.3 config disc. Or can I just update to 3.0U firmware after I've updated the wiikey first? Any help would be much appreciated :)

Also, it's alright to update to 3.0U using the internet isn't it? Because a lot of ppl are updating their firmware through the use of NTSC U games with the latest update, but I just want to update asap, so I'm just wondering if there will be any problems doing it through internet considering I'm in the UK as well but want 3.0U firmware =S I appreciate any help

you CAN burn games with either DVD-R or DVD+R. Most of my games are burned with Verbatim DVD+R's and haven't had one issue yet.

Yes but specifically for the 1.3 config disc you need to use DVD-R's (according that guy, forgot his name, look 2 posts up)

I've used DVD+R on update 1.2 and most my games and never had read issues. Wii can read both, not just DVD-R......

yes i agree with that wii and or wiikey can read both with out any problem ,most the problem it from compatible DISK name brand , that why when you buy the Blank disk reseach and buy the one work with wiikey .
- SLIBS right too , because the wiikey website recomment used the DVD-r for 1.3 config. disk to prevent low rate fail when you try to boot it for setup.

I have a problem after updating to 1.9b and using the 1.3 setup disc.
backups used to work after the 1.9b update.
I set the dvdr read speed with the 1.3 config disk to 6x and the region to on saved the settings ans now it will not read backups or the setup 1.3 disk.
it will work with originals.
I did load mario galaxy but the backups have been working fine after that i just got the semi bricked internet settings issue.
any idea's.

Should you update the Nintendo software before or after updating to 1.9 and config 1.3?
Thanx,

Update via the internet first, then 1.9g, you may not need the config 1.3 though.
you will still get the 2 channels for the internet though, it may be worth waiting for a pal version, it will play but you will get extra channels and the possibillity of not been able to adjust your settings or get on the internet.
let someone else respond before you do anything in case my findings are a one off.
thanks

I'm getting a headache!!
I updated from 1.9b to g. I tried to run the 1.3 config and just get the disk read error message. I've burnt using low speed, non-modified iso, and nothing. Using dvd-r's, RiDisc, decent discs and never had a problem with boots before. Anybody got any suggestions? Thanks.

From the cmd prompt I am getting the following error:
'filechop.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file
Can someone explain to me what this means?

I burned the update disc straight off with nero, updated wiikey fine, burned the 1.3 config disc and got the error, i got the exact same error as algtz1 when trying to use filechop.
Anyway I managed to get the file bumped up to the full size and reburned the disc and it made no difference, same error.
Anyway, I read on another forum you could boot up GCOS first, then put the config 1.3 disc in and boot it from there, problem is I cant test this theory out yet until I get my gamecube pad which I need to collect from royal mail sorting office, you can download the pre built GCOS iso's here (change to http) hxxp://gbatemp.net/index.php?download=980
I will test this out when i get the GC pad, if it does work please post a reply to confirm it.

For those having the same problem I was booting 1.3 config I found a good link.
http://psx-scene.com/forums/wiikey/59766...-3-run-wii.html
Basically you just use their hacked 1.2 config as a base-disk... then once loaded you use 1.2config to enable multi-region. Once thats done 1.3config loads without a problem.
Fun stuff... but very annoying!! lol... not sure what it is about my wii/wiikey that meant I couldn't boot the 1.3 disk straight away, but their solution worked perfectly.. once that was done I could boot the 1.3 disk that originally wasn't working.

If I updated my wii with the 1.9g beta fix, do I need to also do the 1.9b fix if I haven't yet?
And also, if I change my disc speed to 3x with the 1.3 config, will my games work more consistently? Because many of my games are very intermittent. Sometimes when I put them in they work and other times they dont. It sucks.
