when I check size of the hdd of my ps3 there were 45/55 gig and I all I did was Uprade it once and installed 2 games, so is this normal for 10 gig to be used like that.

also there is no papers about the warrenty so how do I know if I got it or not, and how long does it last.

thanks in advance

Game saves, installed games, linux partition, internal memory cards, game data(what a disc based game copies to your hard drive, media. These are all things that that take up storage. I have like 8 installed games, 3 internal ps2 memory cards full of stuff, 1 ps1 memory card, motorstorm data, resistance data with map pack one, and linux installed which takes up 10 gig, the latest firmware update, and still have 34 gig left out of 55 gig. Do you have linux because that would explain where your 10 gig went?

Exactly! I don't know why PS3 owners don't realize this. This is like the 4th or 5th thread concerning this issue that I've read since buying the PS3. It's always been this way on PCs, and even blank DVDs.

I upgraded my HDD to 120 gb. I think the initial free space was 110 or 111 gb.

The XMB itself takes up 5-8gb, I think. So 55gb becomes less than 50gb. What other games have you played?, some store gigs of stuff on the HDD for faster loading.

exactly what i was thinking its probably just a game that's chashed on the hard drive, either way its not a problem with the hard drive itself so u can rest easy ^.^'

a 60gig would probly equate to 56..or 57 gigs of actual space plus the xmb and firmware and anything the system is cashing on the hardrive. and its not like it will show u how much the xmb and anything the system is taking up.

Size stated for hdd foppy disks cds dvds mp3 players and so on are not actual size.
