The wireless adapter is 100 bucks and after dropping 75 (after taxes) for Halo 3 I cannot afford the stupid thing. Is there anyway I can use a cross over cable to connect it to my laptop and use the wireless signal to my network from that? I know its probly a long shot BUT if you can do this let me know it would be great since my router is on the other end of the house

yes, its called file sharing.
use the search bar to find out how it works, it has been discussed
here several times and should be fairly easy to find here but if not google it.
