Hello,
Has anyone experienced the wii reading the boot disk but when you try to enter the bootloader to configure teh wiikey it just hangs and teh disk keeps spinning. Tried several burn and several media. Verbatim as well. I think it is the 2A chipset. even tried another wiikey to make sure it wasn't faulty. Any suggestions. We are unable to do teh 1.9 update becaseu we can't set the wii to region free.

Thanks in advance.

Wondering if you have to use the older 1.1 or 1.0 setup disk with the D2A chipset. any ideas? Thanks

I just modded the D2A and updated with 1.9.

Are you sure your install is good?

I measured the continuity and it seemd good. I installed it 2 times and then another chip the third time. Boots the game cube disk. Then I ut in the config disk. It will boot the the menu. I then choose the bootloader.dol ( i beleive it is called) then teh menu goes away the disk keeps spinning ans remains taht way. Never goes into the wiikey configuration. Unable to read backups or origs. Did you use teh 1.2 config disk?

Thanks for teh reply I appreciate it.

Hmmm, not me.

I just ran 1.9. I am choosing not to run region free, because I don't care about imports, and I don't want to risk bricking my wii.

Good luck.

Found the fix. Apparently there are a few problematic first Gen Wii's out there where you have to actually use a hex editor and edit the iso before burning the config disk. Will share the info later.
