try using this format method
-run a dos prompt (start->run->cmd)
-type "format (psp drive letter): /fs:fat
-say yes to using 64k cluster
-close prompt when done
-recopy all folders
is your 8gb from ebay or from a store? check and see if MagicGate is supported on the psp.

I was able to try Tag Force 2 and it worked...Also Tag Force 1 worked on it so how do you find out if it is compatible?

I bet dollars to donuts it's fake. What'd you pay?
Was it sealed with little bumps, or just a solid glue seal all the way around?
There's a guide on ebay (check the guides for fake memory stick or something). But I'm betting your memory stick is 100% fake.

in the xmb, go to memory stick and press triangle. on the right side, information will appear. press x, and it will show
-user capacity
-free space
-MagicGate
if MagicGate says supported, than it's a original. if it says unknown or is blank, then it's a fake.
if you want a real sony 8gb, go to a retail store, or order directly from sony. it will be hard to find 8gb since it just came out. i've only seen one at a local circuit city. expect to pay the price of a new psp. pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Thats sounds like a fake to me....
A 4GB retails at 79.99-99.99(US)unless they are on sale.
If yours says "unknown" or is blank after MagicGate-Get your money back! You can get a genuine 8GB for about $120(US)-some sellers on eBay have them but you have to weed through the ones from Hong Kong...Also I would not recommend eBay for memory anyway-Your best bet is to get it from a retailer..

Only if there was some sort of stipulation that the hardware ware official.
Read through and check the questions, if there's anything that even suggests that it's illegit then you can complain... I'm not entirely sure how the licensing goes, but I'm sure they're probably doing all this illegally, which means you'd prob be able to get your money back. Email them, then email ebay. You'll be out shipping costs though.

Yes you should be able to get your money back- First contact the seller, and let them know you are unsatisfied with your purchase before just leaving them negative feedback...eBay requires that you at least try to work it out with the seller first before you just file a complaint. If you are unsucessful, or you dont get the results you are looking for from the seller-Then you can start the process with eBay, and seeing that you paid with paypal-you are most likely covered by their buyer protection as well...But first get a hold of the seller and let them know you are having issues with their product.

I thought I saw in that link he posted-it said it was GENUINE in the item description-I wonder if that was the same seller he got the 8GB from?? If thats the case-if they advertised a genuine product, then sold you a fake-Yeah, you will definitely need to report them to eBay!!

The GENUINE One Is a different seller...I bought another one from that link I posted above...it looks like it has the sealed bubbles not just 4 dots and the 8GB is REd instead of blue and the #'s are right.

sounds like a real one to me. the 8gb i've seen had the red 8gb bubble. if it's sealed with the staple design, then it's a real one

If it says Unkown then it is absolutely fake?I've got a 4GB MS and I've been using it and it has been successfully loading games on it...It says Magicgate Unknown.
I've filled it to 461MB before and all my ISO/CSOs and all my emulators and apps worked...I'm sure it's not fake...Looks very real...Any ideas?

Yeah, it's 100% fake.
Go to eBay, file a complaint.
Get your money back, then buy it from somewhere reputable.
