Hey i just got a FAT PSP today, its not brand new but its a used one. When i got it, i was excited and all, so i experimented and i think i upgraded it to 3.71. Now i wanted to downgrade it (it was at 2.8 when i got it) but i dont have any experience in this field and honestly i dont know what to do. If some one could be kind enough to explain what i should do, i would greatly appreciate it.

Pandora Battery is your only choice.Click here for the sticky. If you can't get your hands on a Pandora Battery then you've just officially ruined your chances of playing downloaded games from you memory stick. But check if it says 3.71M33 and 3.71.Just hope it says 3.71M33.I wouldn't know how get 3.71M33 but just tell me anyways.

You should have come on here and read first before updating. The 2.80 firmware you had before updating to 3.71 could have been downgraded easy. But now since you updated it to 3.71 you will need to create a Pandora Battery to downgrade it.

In order to create it you need a PSP that has 1.50 or custom firmware on it. This is due to official PSP firmware will not run unsigned code. Which you need to run it to create the Jigkick battery.

So find someone that has a 1.50 or some sort of custom firmware (OE/M33) and ask them to create it for you.

Depends what firmware it has. If it has 3.51 or above you will need the Pandora Battery.

If it is -3.10 - 3.50 you will need a Lumines game to use the Lumines game save exploit.

If it is -2.81 - 3.03 you will need a GTA Liberty City Stories game so you can use the save game exploit. (You can also update this to 3.50 and use the Lumines as well)

2.00 - -2.80 can be downgraded without a game save exploit. So no game is needed. (Firmware between this is easiest to downgrade)

If you don't know anyone with a 1.50 or PSP with custom firmware then your nest bet is to get a used 1. If your getting these at a game shop ask them to plug it in so you can see the screen etc. etc. Then check the firmware and make sure it is 2.80 or below.

Unless you have 1 of the above games then you can use that to downgrade a higher firmware. But anything 3.51 or above will need a Pandora Battery to downgrade.

Alright thanks a lot, i'll let you know the status when i exchange it back.
But doesn't all brand new PSP's start off at the same software?
I mean, cuz nobody's ever used them thus upgraded them before

Depends when the PSP was manufactured. If the PSP was manufactured recently then you more then likely will get a 3.51 or higher.

HERE is a guide that shows you how to check what firmware the PSP has by looking at the PSP box.
