when i am looking through websites they suggest thing that you can do with your psp if you have it downgraded to 1.50
but if i have custom firmware 3.71 does this still count as 1.5 and allow me to do things to it wven though it is meant for 1.50

you will need to downgrade your 3.71 to 1.50 to install custom themes to be able to do all the cool things,the only way to do this is the pandora battery and magic memory stick

Does this count as being version 1.5 and so can i do the custom background thing

what firmware are you on 3.71 official firmware or 3.71m33?
is you psp fat or slim?

anything that needs 1.50 to work will not work on slim because 1.50 kernel does not work if by background you mean themes you can get them here http://www.consolespot.net/index.php?network=xmb but make sure they are for 3.71

1.50 is one of the very first firmwares when the psp fat first came out,
the slims first firmware was 3.60 so the 1.50 will not work on the slims as the 1.50 firmware was never on the slim.
so homebrew will not work on slims until they create a homebrew compatible for it

I have a fat psp with 3.71 official firmware.how can I make it 3.71M33.Do I need to downgrade it or use a pandoras battery?I've tried everything already. but when i get to install "pandora battery firm installer" it only says "cannot start the game", somebody told me to get a psp with custom firmware, now I've got one, he has 3.52M33.what's next? he doesn't have a pandora battery,just a custom firmware psp. Thanks.

Francisy - The Mods might not like your signature, consider changing it.
It's against afterdawn rules to link to exernal sites of that nature.
Now, i presume you have a Pandora Battery, (since you have a 3.71 M33 PSP) you can modify the files on the memory stick to use it to downgrade your Fat PSP to 1.50, and then up to 3.52 M33 (I recommend it over 3.71 M33), after that, run the 3.52 M33-4 patch.
