Hi all,
I bought a 2nd hand PSP with v2.00 (OFW) and I am looking at putting a CFW on it, but there are soooo many to choose from. From reading the threads the m33 versions of pretty much any CFW seems to be the way to go. But which one??

Im a little confused as regards as the methods to do it. Many people have told me to use the "2.0/2.01 Easy Downgrader" tool, and many others have told me to upgrade to 2.71 (OFW) and then no-one knowws where to go from there?!

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Many thanks!

what mobo do you have? is it ta-082(IC1003) or not? if not use this
this is for 2.71cfw non TA-082

as far as i know many users stick with 3.52m33-4 many says that this is currently the most stable CFW. and as for me 3.52m33-4 is great.

Sig under re-construction... sorry creaky i didn't see your request.. im sorry for real..

The easiest downgrader would be 2.71. So I would suggest upgrading to 2.71 firmware. You can download 2.71 firmware HERE.

Start off by plugging in your PSP to AC Adapter. Make sure you have a battery charge level of 75% or higher.

Format your PSP Memory Stick (Make sure you backup any savedata if you have any and any other files you want to keep).

Create a new folder and name it UPDATE. Drag the 2.71 EBOOT that you downloaded above (rename it to EBOOT.PBP) to the UPDATE folder. Now drag the UPDATE folder to your /PSP/GAME folder on the PSP Memory Stick. Now go to Game Menu memory Stick on the PSP and run the 2.71 update.

After it finishes go to System Settings and make sure your at 2.71 firmware.

Now you will need to find out if you have a TA-82 or higher motherboard or not. To determine this you need to open the UMD Bay and look inside at the top right corner.

If there is text there then you have a TA-82 or higher motherboard and need to go to this GUIDE and look under the section of -2.71 PSP (TA-82 or TA-86).

If there is no text then you don't have a TA-82 or higher motherboard and need to go to this GUIDE and look under the section of -2.71 PSP.

When you are downgraded to 1.50 I would suggest going to 3.52 M33-4 which you can use the mini-guide below to upgrade to it...

3.52 M33 HERE

3.52 M33-4 HERE

3.52 firmware HERE

1.50 firmware HERE

Start by formating your memory Stick.

Download the 3.52 M33 CFW linked above. Extract the file.

Download both the 1.50 and 3.52 firmware. You need to re-name the 3.52 firmware to 352.PBP the 1.50 firmware to 150.PBP. Then add them to the M33CREATOR folder.

Now copy the M33CREATOR folder and the kxploitpatcher and kxploitpatcher% folders to the PSP MS directory of ms0:/PSP/GAME folder.

Now go to Game Menu Memory Stick and run the KXploit Permanent Patcher. It should run and say patched successfully and reboot back to the XMB.

Now go to game Menu Memory Stick and run the M33CREATOR.

After you run the M33CREATOR it should reboot back to the XMB. It should have created a 3.52 M33 update which you need to select in the Game Menu Memory Stick.

It will flash the files to the PSP and you should be at 3.52 M33 firmware. If it is then format your MS.

Now extract the 3.52 M33-4 update.

Drag the PSP folder that is in the update M33-4 into the root of the MS overwriting the files when it asks you to. Now go to Game Menu Memory Stick and run the m33-4 update. This will only take a few seconds.

After the update is finished check and make sure it says 3.52 M33-4 for firmware. If it does say 3.52 m33-4 then format the MS 1 more time.

You are now updated to 3.52 M33-4.

larrylje I cannot thankyou enough.

A well worded post, full of step by step instructions, which was clear, concise and spot on. Within 25 mins of sitting down with my PSP, a coffee and my laptop and I was done.

Forums like this grow on their reputation because of users like you.

Many thanks

PS If had a problem completing it first time around as I got an error saying the 3.52 firmware PBP failed a check of some sort. I swapped the 1GB MS Pro-Duo card I was using and tried a 512MB MS Pro-Duo card and Robert is my mums brother.

Just incase anyone else comes up with a similar error.

All I need to do is figure out how to use emulators! Cheers!

Emulators are easy! Just drag and drop them to ms0:/PSP/GAME, find the ROM folder inside each emu, then drop the ROMs into that folder. Lauch from vsh and you're good to go.

Yeah tried that with no luck. Eventually put them in every folder I could see until one worked.

For the record my emulator had to go in the GAME150 folder instead.
